I have been doing TED going on my 4th week now. I am seeing improvement (burping better and more frequent BM), however, BM are still almost all mucous. DD is on zantac. I have upped her dosage twice. I have never really been convinced that is was helping much. We are going to the Dr tomorrow and I was going to ask about putting her on something else. Will new medicine help with the mucous or is that more likely still related to one of few items I am still eating?
August 13, 2008 at 2:02 pm #55303AnonymousInactiveI think its related to what you are eating.. i could be wrong though. But i always thought it was just a sign of intolerance.
August 13, 2008 at 3:09 pm #55307AnonymousInactiveMucous is a sign of an intolerance. Are you strict on the TED. We have another mom on here who had to eliminate rice and turkey from the TED as well b/c her lo was reacting to those as well. You unfortunately may need to restrict even more to see what the problem is.
August 13, 2008 at 3:25 pm #55311AnonymousInactiveI am eating turkey, white rice, zucchini, squash, pears and looza pear juice. I tried potatoes and that just made it worse. I was eating the honey suckle white turkey and jennie-o ground turkey but I am going to eliminate those for a couple of days since they had ingredients added and see if that helps. If not, rice will be next. It is going to kill me not having any carbs…that’s the only thing that has been saving me so far!
August 13, 2008 at 8:49 pm #55323AnonymousInactiveI would try just getting a regular turkey (atually I think they recommend free range) and cooking that up before eliminating turkey all together. A lot of times those jennie-o type turkey has hidden ingredients (ie: dairy/soy) that could be bothering your LO. That said, have you had the stool tested for microscopic blood. When McKenzie had blood in her stool (visable), I took out the top 8 allergens and it went away. There was still mucous for a while (2 weeks I think) but my doctors said as long as there wasn’t blood they were not concerned…so while it might be taking a while for the GI tract to heal, if you are not noticing blood, just doing plain turkey is where I would start. 🙂
August 13, 2008 at 9:33 pm #55328AnonymousInactiveYeah, I was going to suggest cutting the rice first. Seems like more lo’s have trouble with that one than they do with the turkey. HAve you tried sweet potatoes? They are more “squash” like, so maybe they would work? They are really good too!
August 13, 2008 at 9:39 pm #55329AnonymousInactiveI was going to stick to the Jennie-O turkey cutlets and tenderloins. They don’t have anything added to them. I was concerned about trying sweet potato since DD reacted so badly to regular potatoes. I thought I would give it until friday and if there was no improvement I would cut out rice
August 14, 2008 at 10:35 am #55339AnonymousInactiveOk so today there was no mucous but her poop is still green. What does this mean?
August 14, 2008 at 9:55 pm #55367AnonymousInactiveI do think that poops can be all shades of colors…was it foamy green or just like normal BM poopies but a green color? I think the foamy green can be a hind/foremilk imbalance, but others can chime in as I actually never had this problem myself. Yeah I would stick with the turkey that is just plain. Good luck!
August 15, 2008 at 1:17 am #55375AnonymousInactiveNicholas’ poop was always green until he started on solids. Now I am getting a whole rainbow of colors LOL. Green is okay as long as it is not foamy.
August 15, 2008 at 6:44 am #55376AnonymousInactiveMy LC said that green is usually an upset stomach from something that you ate, green with mucous consistently is allergies and green that is foamy is the foremilk/hindmilk imbalance
August 15, 2008 at 2:40 pm #55387AnonymousInactiveThanks Ladies! Today it almost looked normal, mostly yellow but still a little green…yeah! Who would have thought that a poopy diaper would be the highlight of my days There must have been something in the turkey I was eating. Do you have any suggestions as what may be best to add back first?
August 15, 2008 at 10:28 pm #55407AnonymousInactiveI think there has been a lot of debate about this recently. If you want to think with your head I would say quinoa. It is gluten free and a complete protien. Now if you are like me and want to follow your heart, I would pick something that maybe you are craving…like a juicy steak or a glass of wine and have that first. 🙂 Good luck!
August 27, 2008 at 3:44 pm #55796AnonymousInactiveI’m a bit behind in this thread (I was on vacation) but just wanted to chime in & say that my ds’s diapers are the highlight of our day – EVERY day so you are not alone.
I am the one Beth was talking about that had to eliminate tky & rice (& sweet potatotes) in order to see results eventually.I think I’ve responded on a few of your other posts (there’s a few TED posts lately – besides MINE – imagine that!) but I’m not sure. Let me know if you have any other questions…You were asking about what to add in next… here’s a link that has the least (& most) allergenic foods. I’m using that as a loose guide. I followed my heart (as Emily suggested) at first w/ adding foods in & it didn’t go so good. So now I’m following my head .September 1, 2008 at 10:50 pm #55977AnonymousInactiveThanks for the link Erin! I followed my heart a couple times and it was a no go for me either! DD is so sensitive I don’t know if I will ever find anything that works. I am dying for a good carb but so far potatoes and brown rice have really upset her. We had allergy testing done and get the results this week so maybe that will help shed some light on the situation!
