Isaac had his appt today at the allergy clinic. They did allergy testing (even though his regular ped said that he didn’t want it done) and figured out that allergies are not his problem-he is not allergic to any foods just enviro things. It was horrible and Isaac screamed the whole time! So basically for us that means that there is something wrong inside of him like maybe his stomach valve is not closing all of the way but we really don’t know what. I am thinking when we go to the gi dr on jan 3rd we will either schedule tests (which is what the ped and allergists wants done) or put Isaac on prevacid (what the ped gi wants to do). Either way we will continue the weight checks, Zantac, and Zyrtec. At least he can eat normal foods again with a high fat diet. Thanks to all who had us in your thoughts and prayers!
Sarah, sorry that the allergy testing didn’t give you any answers. I can’t remember details, but I recall reading that they’re not always accurate in kids under age three. Also, is it possible that it’s still an intolerance? (Not to confuse matters for you.)
Anyhow, I hope that the GI can help you guys. What kinds of testing are you thinking of?
Lori-My ped said that the tests are not accurate at all at this age but the allergist swore that they were so I don’t know. We are thinking another endoscopy to start then gastric emptying study and ph probe hopefully! His last endoscopy was about a year ago so we are well overdue!
