Hi,
My DD is 12 weeks old (born at 32 weeks)) and we’ve been contending with silent reflux since about week 5. She’s tried many meds which didn’t seem to help much at all. I’ve recently gone on MSPI diet and it’s definitely helping in terms of her fussiness and willingness to sleep. However I’ve just gone back to Losec for the second time as the Zantac wasn’t helpign enough and I thought that maybe the Losec didn’t seem to work the first time because I was still eating milk/soy. I find myself incredibly anxious that this isn’t the case and that the Losec will not work again. My tummy feels sick and I’m always listening for signs that my DD is in distress, it’s like I’m waiting for an air raid siren all the time. Because I’m always hypervigilant I can’t get to sleep very easily and exhaustion is taking it’s toll. I worry constantly about the next feed and am starting wonder if I’m blowing this whole thing out of proportion in my head. I feel crazy continually calling my ped to report back all the things we’ve been experiencing. He’s a nice man but seems to be in disbelief about what I’m saying.A question for you all. Once your babies were on meds and appropriate diets were their symptoms completely elminated? I’m wondering if I’m maybe expecting too much from the diet and meds. Perhaps there will be some element of the reflux that we’ll always be dealing with until she grows out of it. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Thanks for listening,RmomAugust 15, 2009 at 2:31 pm #63580AnonymousInactiveI think we’ve all gone through moments like that in the beginning. I still find myself 2nd guessing things. 🙂
You mentioned you’ve tried many diff meds. Have the doses all been in accordance w/marci-kids? If not, I’d consider getting the proper dose in addition to your new diet.“A question for you all. Once your babies were on meds and appropriate diets were their symptoms completely elminated?”I’d say as long as you’ve postively identified what foods your LO can’t tolerate & you’re on the right med/dose, then YES those symptoms should resolve themselves. Keep in mind though, there are other things that can trigger reflux discomfort such as colds, teething, vaccines, etc.Good Luck & Hang In There!August 15, 2009 at 3:09 pm #63589hellbenntKeymasterI would check dose, and ‘form’ of dose…
Prevacid 101(last post on the page): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1936&PN=0&TPN=1
AND I would give zantac, too! just make sure to space 4hrs from losec…I also would give the maximum zantac dose, which is 10mgs per kilo (don’t just take my word on this:
Zantac dosing- my/other’s question (has axid & pepcid dose, too):

i know what you mean about the anxiety. boy, it can creep up and really put a strangle-hold on you! you’re doing the best you can, which is all your baby asks of you! i wish there was a miracle i could send your way. i will pray for you. the Lord carried me so many days… -
