So my son is almost 5 months and still not sleeping. We put him on 15mg Prevacid split into 3 doses. His reflux seems to be better somewhat. He is not screaming much if at all during the day, but he still doesn’t sleep. He wakes up every 1-2 hours at night. He is not congested and hoarse like before the increased prevacid. He doesn’t really nap ever. What can we do about his sleep? Obviously the reflux is not controlled if he is still waking up crying so often. He’s also on Neocate. Any suggestions? We feel like death over here.

try zantac at night? do you have any left?

you can also get pepcid ac chewables and give 1/2 a tablet at night-dissolove in some water

(disclaimer: I am not a doctor…I just have been on this board for going on 8 years now)

if you do give zantac or pepcid, make sure to give it 4hrs seperate from the prevacid

What dosage of Zantac do you suggest for an almost 5 month old, last weight 2 weeks ago was 16lbs?

The ped GI prescribed 21mg once daily of Zantac, not sure if this is sufficient.

He also prescribed 7.5mg prevacid once daily but I increased it to 30mg daily split into 2-3 doses.

It is SAFE to give both meds (zantac, axid, pepcid or tagament), just make sure to space them 4 hrs apart.
