OK this might be an odd topic, but I just don’t really know what else to do with McKenzie…it seems that no matter how much I burp her and how peaceful she is when she goes down, 30 min into her nap she is figiting around…I know sometimes it is because she is refluxing (she sleeps on our bed while my other daughter naps so I am in the room with her) but sometimes I think it is just because she has a bubble in her tummy….any advice on this….I just don’t see how one baby can have so much air. Sometimes she does have gas too, but that seems to be mostly after her nightly feeding…otherwise it seems more like air coming up the other direction. 🙂

I swear he was 9 or 10 months old before he could make it more than the first 30-45 min of any sleep period without waking up and it was almost always b/c he needed to burp. As he got older he would sit up and burp and either lay back down or scream for me to help him get back to sleep. We lived on gas drops (didn’t totally get rid of it but I can only imagine what it would have been like if we hadn’t of used them)And are now “weaning” him off the gas drops (only use them 1-2x/day now). Some babies are just “gassier” than others I guess. The mylanta helped with the gas as well as it basically has the gas drops in it.

He’s always been terrible about “saving up” burps…and oddly, he’s not terribly gassy from the other end of his body. I think they just don’t move clear down very easily for him.Like Beth, we’ve lived with Mylicon as our best friend and I’m glad to read from her that there is a time when we can start to decrease them!! LOLWish I knew how to help you…but we’ve not figured out the fix yet, eitherMarch 29, 2008 at 11:00 pm #49595AnonymousInactiveWe went through that with Paige – it was awful! I’m so sorry. She would always wake after about 20 minutes of sleeping, day or night, needing to burp again even if we were sure we had gotten all the burps out before she went to sleep. We co-slept with her for months so that we could quickly grab her and get the burp out and get her settled back to sleep before she got really upset.
Sorry, I don’t have much advice, but wanted to let you know you aren’t alone. She eventually outgrew that – gosh, I can’t remember how old she was, but likely around the time she became more mobile and able to adjust her sleeping position and get the burp out and go back to sleep.April 3, 2008 at 2:33 pm #49826AnonymousInactiveHi Emily!
I had this same problem with Eliana. I’m sure it was reflux related because as soon as she outgrew her reflux she also outgrew this annoying problem. Just like McKenzie, I’d lay her down and she’d sleep peacefully for 20 – 30 minutes and then wake up needing to burp. I never figured out a solution for her but with Myles I learned that giving him Mylicon before each feeding helped him to get all the burps up right after his feedings. Maybe it would have helped with Eliana too, but I hadn’t thought of it then.Congrats on your new little sweetie! -
