Kendra falls into this category of “no known allergies” even when she can’t tolerate food.
After reading this article, i got motivated to go see Dr Putman and got an appoiment for November (very blessed as it was a result of a cancellation, teh next available was February). Dr Putnam sounds very knowledgable and he is not even an allergist.I am faxing this to my ped, my ped Gi and my allergist. I love to hear what they have to say after reading it, if they even read it.September 22, 2007 at 11:36 am #43094AnonymousInactiveThank you! I am working with our state senators here in SD to get this passed also. MN just passed a law that all insur companies have to cover Neocate. This is a great article! I will also post on KWFA. Thanks!

September 22, 2007 at 4:05 pm #43104AnonymousInactiveThank you Laura,
It sounds like Eli is doing much better now and WOW he was on Neocate for a loooooong time!!!If that is our case Kendra will be tube fed for a whileI am excited we have this appoiment. It wil be a 15 hours drive for a cosulltation, but i have a gut feeling it will be worth it.i am also taking Kendra back to our trusted chriropractor for some natural remedies and some friendly “adjustments” (he said he wants to check her nerve system b/c it might help her DGE a bit) .September 22, 2007 at 4:17 pm #43105AnonymousInactiveI think that this part might be one of the most important things that he said:
Elemental formulas whose protein fraction is free amino acids offer legitimate therapy for children with multiple food allergies. However, there seems to be substantial inertia in the pediatric community to go beyond protein hydrolysate (ie, polypeptide-based) formulas. Confirming prior observations, nearly one third of the children in the current study, including many breast-fed infants, did not tolerate hydrolysate formulas.6 The use of hydrolysates, although they are less costly and more easily available, must be abandoned as quickly as cow’s milk-based formula if symptoms aren’t promptly controlled.
This is the thing that I found so frustrating when dealing with our ped. He kept saying that there were no other options beyond nutramigen.I hope that Dr. Putnam can help. I know that Tracy thought he was wonderful!!!!September 22, 2007 at 4:35 pm #43107AnonymousInactiveAllergies are soooo hard to deal with, many dr’s treat all children by the book and EVERY child is different. I am sicken how much you have to “fight” with dr’s to get your baby “well”. I am yet to find a doctor who can trully evaluate us and come up with a tretament plan that works for us.That’s why i am still looking.
YOU MOMMIES ARE ALL AMAZING. Keep up the fight for your little onesSeptember 23, 2007 at 7:52 am #43117AnonymousInactiveThanks so much for the article!
