I’m so excited but I think I have my LO problem figured out. So, I have been doing the TED for about a month. I switched out rice for quinoa last Tuesday and for the last 4 days her poops have been yellow mustardy color, liquidy, no seeds, mucous or blood. But when she was nursing today she had a little gas and it did have an odor to it. Not foul smelling but more her normal diaper smell of yeast and buttered popcorn. Is that okay or should her gas not be smelly at all? I’m hoping this is okay but I don’t want to start adding foods back in if this isn’t. I just haven’t seen consistent days of yellow poop in such a long time, it just makes me feel that I am doing something right. When I changed my diet last week the poops were mostly yellow with slight tinge of green and there was a little streak of mucous but she was also very congested and had a ruuny nose and I have read that that can cause mucous in her poop. Is that correct? Is there anyway to tell if it is mucous from that or a food sensitivity? The first thing I would like to try in adding back is avocado. I know it isn’t on the bottom of least allergenic food but I would like some good fat in my diet beside EVOO. Unless you have a better suggestion on what to start adding back in first.

December 30, 2010 at 8:26 pm #67458hellbenntKeymasterI think a little gas is fine! Stick w/ the quinoa a bit longer & see what happens. I’d eat ‘safe’ foods while you wait and see.
then, yes, try avocado!and yes, congestion can cause mucous 🙂You’re doing great, mama!!!!December 30, 2010 at 11:57 pm #67459AnonymousInactiveHi… This will be quick as I’m on my phone out of town. Anyway….Yay for baseline !!!!! That’s such great news about the consistent good diapers!! Yes, gas is ok. Foul smelling is usually not. Most ebf babies’ gas is odorless but of course if it’s occasional I wouldn’t worry (ie: one time every few. days when the diapers are normal color & consistency).
One of my ds was intolerant to rice too. I would stick with the quinoa for a couple more days then definitely add in avocado. That was one of the first things i added in too. I would eat it 2-3x per dsay for four days before declaring it a success .
As far as the mucous I’ve never seen any in diapers personally for anything other than gi related stuff but I’ve certainly heard/read that it’s possible. Like i said above, not a big deal if it’s once every few days & everything else seems normal. Make sense?
Ok gotta run…thanks Beth for messaging me. Congrats on getting this far…you’re doing AWESOME!!!!!!!

She had a poopy diaper this morning which was the same like the last but then this afternoon it was slightly green color and there was a little glob of mucus about the size of a pea 🙁 bummer. She really isn’t that congested anymore. I hope it was just a fluke thing. I had some sweet potatoes and zucchini the last couple days that I haven’t had for awhile just because I hadn’t gone grocery shopping. I think I will stop eating that too just to make sure she isn’t starting to react to one of those 2 things. I bought some klaire labs infant probiotics too and I was afraid to give it to her since we were consistently having pretty normal poops. Should I go ahead and start her on those now??
