Dagney had her endoscopy today, and she was a real trooper! They gave her a little something to relax her at first, so that separation wouldn’t be hard, and within a couple of minutes she was almost acting drunk. It was both funny and scarey at the same time–she’d laugh for no reason, then be really tired and loopy. They wheeled her off to the or and we saw her about 45 minutes later in recovery. She even woke up really well, they put her on my lap and we first gave her some pedialyte, which she sucked down, then I was able to give her a bottle of formula and she drank almost the whole thing too. The only thing that bothered her was when they took her IV off and the little splint on her arm & pulled that sticky thing off that holds the whole thing on.
Anyway, the doc didn’t see any inflammation or anything bad, they took biopsies along the way, but those results won’t be back until next week, so we’ll have a follow-up on Aug 3rd. I asked the doc if she could just need more time before we wean her, and she said yes, and maybe we’d need to wean differently. I guess we’ll find out more about that next week. I’m just relieved it’s done! I was practically a basket case the whole morning until we saw her there sleeping peacefully in post-op, then I was again crying with happyness. It’s done, and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had feared!
