Hi
My 17 week old daughter has reflux, diagnosed through
contrast radiography, PH probes and upper GI Study. She is on the
highest possible dose of omeprazole and domperidone, has Gaviscon, and
is on a dairy and soya free diet (BF).
The reflux is still not under control.
The gastroenterologist has now booked her in for an endoscopy and
biopsies as the next step… mainly to ‘rule things out’. This involves
general anaesthesia.
So I’m wondering:
1. What could the biopsies actually show/rule out other than inflammation/H Pylori?
2. Has anyone ever found something useful out via endoscopy – ie leading to improvement in managing the GERD symptoms?
I’s be very grateful for anyone else’s experiences – it seems extreme to
put my daughter through GA if only to confirm the reflux we have
already had diagnosed (clearly visible on contrast scans when
hospitalised at 2 days old) and when we’re advised that there are no
better medications available!
Thanks in advance
