Can a scope show a specific problem like a soy intolerance or a wheat allergy? Has anyone gotten their food diagnosis from the scope specifically?

it can show eosinophilic cells which are caused by allergy, but it can’t tell you what the allergy is.

That’s very interesting….wonder why our pedi GI dais it was cow’s milk allergy? He’d been exposed to lots of other things at that point…I’ve become suspicious since others I know have seen her and come back with that exact cow’s milk allergy diagnosis.

how were the celiac diagnoses made in your children? which specialist?

my girls were diagnosed by the tissue transglutaminase antibody test (TTG). kassie had a biopsy that was negative—but they were not looking for celiac. tianna had some rashes that were suspicious (elbows, knees, and behind) which is how we first even suspected celiac. tianna had a biopsy that showed increased intrepithelial lymphocytes, but no damage. the doc didn’t even scope molly since we had 3 kids come up positive with the blood test—-i guess it became a no-brainer at that point?

my girls were diagnosed by the same ped gi we had been seeing for sylvia’s reflux.

Have you read this blog about celiac? I found it interesting. Based on it, I think I’m going to begin to investigate the possibility of wheat/gluten as possibly a problem.
