Hello all,
I had a post last week, bad nights, well the bad nights are because Owen STILL has a ear infection! This is the third trip to the pedi, third round of antibiotics and $180 with no relief!
I’m so frustrated I could scream!!!!!
When do you demand tubes? I went through this with Griffin but it never started until he was 10 mo and only seemed to affect him in the winter. It’s plenty warm and has been for weeks here and I don’t know what to do.
Besides all the reflux, MSPI, feeding tube, etc, etc, I can’t add another thing to the mess! I’m exhausted and plain old mad!!
The poor child is in pain all the time and just completely fussy and I hate pushing sooooooo much medicine into him! I feel like the nurse not the mom!!!!!!
Do you who have had problems with the ears just try to keep treating them?? I really wanted Griffin to get tubes but after 3 winters, he finally did not have one infection this past winter so I hope we are in the clear! I was afraid of him losing hearing or something but he has perfect speech and I don’t think he will have any lasting effects, but I had terrible ear infections into my 20’s and know just how painful they are! I really hate to see the kid continually suffer!!!
Sorry in advance I had a BAD day at work and then my husband so kindly took Owen to the doc, but this really set me in a mood when I found out he really did still have an infection!!!
What are your ideas about tubes??

Good luck and I hope the meds work this time!

He only had two infections, but they never really went away. He just got tubes less than a month ago. The doctors were really on top of the tube thing because supposedly kids with his syndrome have ear problems a lot. Anyway, I hope Owen can get over all these infections soon or you can get those tubes! There sure have been a lot of kids getting them lately. I didn’t realize how common that procedure was!

Sarah has constant fluid on her ears (I think) so it’s always getting infected. We just ended a round of zithromax 4 days ago and I think she might be infected again. The last ear infection (4 weeks ago) took two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of so I DEFINITELY know your frustration!!!!! After doing a lot of research and talking to several moms on here…I am going to push for tubes because it can’t get much worse for us than it already is! Sorry I’m not much help at the moment, but hopefully I’ll have more info for you after Friday!

She kept on getting ear infections one right after the next, once she was off antibotics for about 2 days she would an infection again. Taylor only had 4 ear infections but each of them caused so much pain, she had horrible temperatures that would not go away, along with vomiting etc. Each ear infection took mutiple rounds of very strong antibotics which ended up with an antiboitic injection for them to go away. Every time she gets a cold it seems to end up in her ears, and it was just horrible with all the symptoms that she had, so we had tubes placed a few weeks ago. I did push for them since it was crazy that she needed such extreme treatment for them to go away, and she suffered so bad with the temperatures since they would not go down even on the highest doses of tylenol/motrin alternations!
