I will pray for you that Aidan gets approval for the tubes. YOu know, insurance is the most frusterating thing ever. I can’t even believe that you have to have prior authorization for ANYTHING with a baby. I have been through this two times for my daughter (she was on Nexium and Zegerid, both which require prior approval) and I asked my insurance how they could even think of saying no to something for an infant! Good luck and keep us updated. b’s mom2006-11-21 10:50:28

Whilst she screamed a little when when we first started (well she does love to excercise her lungs-she wants to be the next Thorpe, ) she is so much better afterwards- she sleeps better, has great BM. I partly know she is better because she actually enjoys it now! Whilst I am not sure that it has made the most difference (afterall she is on meds) I do think it has helped (even if it is psychological for me- I have taken control and done something!). She loves to go now and gives Renae the biggest smiles!!!!
The way I chose was to ring a few places and ask re their pead experience. I was only interested in a woman and a mum- I figured that a woman and a mum was less likely to do anything “risky” to harm a baby- not sure if the logic holds true for all. The first one who said…”such and such is a mum…..” got my vote. They also only charge 1/2 fee for infants and children because they want to see that infants and children get good care…so obviously they care, again suggesting less likely to do anything risky or experimental!
She also didn’t just see Alana as a reflux baby- she checked her all out and helped a little with her neck and spine (Alana was favouring turning her head to one side).
Just on the value of Chiros- a friends baby was discovered to have a broken collarbone by a Chiro some 4 weeks after birth- no Drs picked it up. Since then she has been a totally diff baby!

We have the absolute best health system- on prescription neocate is about $30 for 8 tins and my Zoton is like $33 for one month! Whilst us Aussies complain and complain about it endlessly…it sounds so much better than yours.
(PS. Hope you have taken this tongue in cheek- its pretty expensive to move to Aus!!!)

I’m going to contact the insurance company after the holiday and get some more info on the process for aproval with ear tubes etc etc. I know his doc will be livid if they deny him!!
