Aidan has another very bad double ear infection, so I called the ENT and requested that the tubes be put in, his ped. said if the ENT had any issues with it that they would call and request them also. Right now he’s still on the omniceff, which doesn’t work, but not much we can do there, nothing works for him, so basically he’s in pain until the ENT validates the order, and then I have to wait until the insurance pre-approves them to even schedule the appt. If medicaid has any issues with doing the tubes, we’re going to pay out of pocket. This is only his 3rd set of infections, so I’m a bit worried that medicaid won’t consider that tube worthy, but maybe they will since no meds work to get rid of them…
November 20, 2006 at 2:10 pm #18526AnonymousInactiveI feel so bad for little Aidan. He must be miserable. Between the reflux and the ear infections, he’s really been through enough.
I hope and pray that medicaid approves the tubes and that you can get it done quickly.
Keep us posted.
November 20, 2006 at 3:07 pm #18529AnonymousInactivety Christine! He’s a tough little guy. On the upside for some unknown reason medicaid paid for his prevacid this month. I know it was some kind of mixup (I mean we’ve been paying out of pocket for 10 months!!!) and I’ll have to pay it eventually, but until then woohoo a little extra cash at the moment.
November 20, 2006 at 3:55 pm #18530AnonymousInactivewait…medicad wont pay for your prevacid??
they said no to zegerid for us cause its too expensive, but they covered prevacid for a short while.November 20, 2006 at 4:53 pm #18540AnonymousInactiveSo sorry to hear that poor Aidan is suffering with yet another ear infection. Poor little guy. Hope that there’s no red tape with the tubes and that he can get some relief soon.
November 20, 2006 at 4:57 pm #18541AnonymousInactivePoor baby – i hope the ear tubes help!
November 20, 2006 at 6:14 pm #18550AnonymousInactiveSorry to hear about the never-ending ear infections. Poor guy! I really hope you’re able to get the tubes in soon & that they help.
November 20, 2006 at 7:28 pm #18562AnonymousInactiveHave you tryed going to a chiropractor? Just asking because I have heard some babies can avoid tubes by just going to the chiropractor. The chiropractor is a good idea for babies anyway. Well, all of us. We were able to take my oldest of constipation meds just by going to our chiropractor. It was amazing.
November 20, 2006 at 7:29 pm #18564AnonymousInactiveMedicaid will pay for the prevacid packets which made him worse when he took them (we started off on the solutabs, and were on them for 3 weeks while the prior authroization was going through then it got denied, so the ped switched to the packets) Medicaid will only pay for solutabs for a child with reflux if the child is very very very bad (basically requires a feeding tube) and Aidan is deffinitly not in that catagory.
as far as red tape-LMAO if there is any sort of snag, then they picked the WRONG mommy to tick off. I tend to be a bit relentless when it comes to the kid’s health, I will become a very annoying fixture at both the ENT’s office if they deny the order, AND a VERY VERY annoying medicaid client. At this point I really don’t care, if they won’t pay for it, we’ll pay out of pocket if we have too.
November 20, 2006 at 7:32 pm #18565AnonymousInactiveI have thought of a chiropracter, If they won’t do tubes, I might start saving so he can go to see if it helps…I’m just very wary of not knowing who around here is good with babies, I have a friend who took her daughter to one and the poor little girl ended up more miserable afterwards…
November 20, 2006 at 8:04 pm #18571AnonymousInactiveYou know, I think medicaid will pay for chiropractic.
November 20, 2006 at 8:08 pm #18572AnonymousInactiveREALLY!!!! omg that would be great, you know it never even occured to me to check into that, but I’m going to go look at the provider’s list!!!! That would be awesome if they did, but even if not, I think it’s something we could work into our budget, if it would benefit him, I just need to do a bit of research into it, life college is here so there are a TON of chiropracters (literally there are 2 on every corner), and I’ve never been so it’s hard to really know where to start when it comes to finding a good one!!
November 20, 2006 at 8:53 pm #18574AnonymousInactiveSomething you might could try (and this might be a pain) is to call several chiropractors and ask if they know anyone who specializes in pediatric chiropractic. Then if you consistently get one name, go with that one. (of course some will say that they do). I’m wary of getting chiropractic on Bryce too, and my husband works for a chiropractor. I think it can be great if you have a really good one though.
Also, something else you might try is craniosacral therapy. It works really well for ear stuff. If you can find a craniosacral therapist (usually also massage therapist) that works for a chiropractor, then they can bill your insurance under chiropractic.
Good luck finding a good one!
November 20, 2006 at 10:18 pm #18581AnonymousInactiveI wish I knew of a really good way to tell you how to find a chiropractor. Our first chiropractor was horrible, but the one we are with now is amazing. Maybe you could find out if anyone on here lives in your area and knows of a good chiropractor. Other possible ways would be to ask around, ask at a health food store, if you know a midwife or anyone in the LLL. Basically if you know anyone that does a lot of natural stuff ask them. That is how we found ours. Actually a lot of people in the church I go to use her. She only charges us half of what she charges others. Because when we took Luke for the first time he cried the whole visit. Of course, that is all he ever did, but I think she felt sorry for us. I recently met someone whose daughter was born and she couldn’t really open her eyes. The docs. said they could sew her eyes open, but the down fall was that she may not be able to close her eyes. Thankfully they found a chiropractor and the baby is actually able to open her eyes more and more each visit. The chiropractor isn’t going to start charging them until they really start seeing results.
Good luck. I hope you find an amazing one and it works wonders for your little guy.
November 21, 2006 at 9:26 am #18597AnonymousInactiveI also wanted to try a chiro but was really worried after all the things I’d read. I didn’t know how to find a good one, and was afraid of ending up with a bad one. Everyone I asked told me that they knew of someone who was great with peds, and I just couldn’t believe that there were so many “great” ones out there. In the end, we ended up doing craniosacral therapy instead (just b/c I’m paranoid) and I don’t really know that I’ve seen any change from the treatment itself, but of course I have no way of knowing how bad she would have been if we’d never gone. She’s been going since she was 4 months old. Ours is a PT also so we get coverage billing under physio.
