I don’t know what to do anymore and I don’t know who to trust.
My daughter was diagnosed with reflux and MSPI at 3 weeks. I tried to cut out the dairy and soy in my diet, but she was not gaining weight while I nursed her. We had to start formula and are currently using Elecare 22 cal; she also takes Previcid. After the diagnosis we were referred to a GI doc just to make sure we were covering all of our bases. At that time Rowan had started gagging and choking with and without eating; and eventually started projectile vomiting. She did have an ultrasound, that was negative, to rule out pyloric stenosis. She also had a feeding eval followed by a swallow study to see if she was aspirating. It came back negative. All of this is fine and all, but no one can explain to me why she’s crying constantly and since this past Friday to now it has gotten worse. This weekend she cried from 8 pm to 3 am. She’s inconsolable. Monday I thought things were better, a little, but I was wrong. She now cries when she wakes up, through her diaper changes, until the nipple goes in her mouth, once it’s time to burp and until the nipple’s back in her mouth and finally until she falls asleep because she’s cried for so long. All of this is repeated when she wakes for the next feeding. She doesn’t even play anymore or really smile. She’s not the same baby from a week ago. I did call her pediatrician today and he said to make her bottles half elecare half pedialyte for 24 hours, tomorrow 3/4 elecare and 1/4 pedialyte and then back to full elecare on the 3rd day. I guess this will settle her stomach?? As for the crying I’ve been told by GI and my pediatrician that it’s do to the MSPI. Is there nothing more I can do to make my little girl happy again?

your baby is in PAIN
please read all you can about PROPER prevacid dose & PROPER administration of that dose and, in the meantime:
DEMAND a RX of zantac & I’ll help you calculate dose. You can go right now and make your OWN zantac if you have to…
you can crush it (otc) and simply add it to the Mylanta Cherry and shake well.
75mg in 5 mL
please read the post here:

hang in there!
you can do this!
I’m going to bed, but I’ve left you with a lot of reading materials! I can’t tell you what to do- you must research all you can & make educated decisions to best help your baby

How old is your little one? Did you have antibiotics while pregnant, in labor, or while nursing? Has your little girl had antibiotics? What about vaccines? Is she old enough to get teeth? All these things can add to and make reflux/digestive problems worse!
Please know that you are not alone! I felt so alone when my babies were suffering so much. I didn’t have internet back then and didn’t know that MSPI and reflux were so common. Every child is different and what works for one doesn’t always work for the next. The key is to find the right things to work for YOUR child. Formula change and meds are one of the biggest keys but I would also suggest you look into giving your little one a supplement of probiotics and digestive enzymes. They have made a huge difference for my children. Here is a short version of my story. https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16038&PID=123639#123639
The long version and much more info is on my blog.
I hope that you SOON find the right things to help your little one!
