I am so mad. It feel we can’t get away w/o an illness when it comes to Kendra. She has a miserable cold that has lasted two weeks and still going with mild symtons now. I took her to the ped today as she has been crying the past 4 nights (all night) as in pain. Well i was very suprised that she has a double ear infection, the poor thing no wonder she is so cranky and whining a lot. I thought her ear tubes were supposed to take care of that problem. I won’t even said much about how bad she is vomiitng and is hardly tolerating her continuous feed.
thanks for letting me vent. I haven’t post much as it has been rough these past two weeks.September 20, 2007 at 12:38 pm #42961AnonymousInactiveI’m so sorry to hear that Kendra’s been so sick. Poor little girl. I sure hope she gets feeling better soon.
September 20, 2007 at 1:32 pm #42968AnonymousInactiveI’m so sorry about how sick Kendra is. We battled ear infections as well with ear tubes at the beginning with Taylor it is much better now. How long has it been since she had her tubes placed?
September 20, 2007 at 1:58 pm #42969AnonymousInactiveSue,
she had them put in August 22nd. I am so blown away, i had high expectations with her tubes b/c of how miserable the infections made/make her. Now what? how long did the infection lasted with Taylor?ughhhTIASeptember 20, 2007 at 2:11 pm #42970AnonymousInactiveShe had her tubes placed April 23rd and had a double ear infection May 14th it started with Strep throat which lead to the ear infection. Then she had another ear infection June 15th which this time there was actual discharge coming out of her ears. I am looking at my calendar that’s why i actually have dates! And cross my fingers has not had one since. When Alexis had tubes she did not get an ear infection until 6 months later and she has had only 2 or 3 ear infections since her tube placement which was 1 1/2 year ago. thanks. She got a cold which lead to the infection. I would be wacthing next month around this time, hopefully she won’t get them again.September 20, 2007 at 2:32 pm #42975AnonymousInactiveOh gosh Leo, I am so sorry! EI’s are so horrible! My older DS had them from 11mos-18mos chronically (ironically, when he went off Dr Brown’s bottles and onto sippy cups, but possibly my imagination)
Anyway, I can sympathize. Landen’s had a couple horrible one’s too. They can really aggravate the reflux.Huge Hugs. I hope she outgrows all of this soon!!!September 20, 2007 at 3:44 pm #42980AnonymousInactiveOh no! I’m so sorry to hear that she has an infection despite her tubes. I hope that she feels better soon.
September 20, 2007 at 7:58 pm #42995AnonymousInactiveOh no Leo! I’m so sorry! Poor baby! This post really had me wondering though…so they CAN have ear infections without drainage then with tubes??? Did Kendra have any drainage? I was under the impression that I would physically be able to SEE an infection b/c of the drainage but I’m GLAD to know that isn’t always the case???
September 20, 2007 at 8:11 pm #42997AnonymousInactiveAmy,
Kendra had no drainage at all. As amatter of fact i feel bad i didn’t take her in sooner. I honestly din’t think it was her ears bothering herSeptember 20, 2007 at 8:43 pm #43008AnonymousInactiveTaylor’s first ear infection after the tubes had no drainage, she got it due to the strep throat. Second ear infection there was discharge.
September 21, 2007 at 10:37 am #43030AnonymousInactiveI am so sorry. I would be devasted too. EIs are miserable. I had always heard there would be drainage too. Did they confirm the tubes were in place and functioning?? Seth also just had double ear infections and I did not take him in right away (also felt horrible) but I never saw any drainage but it turns out his tubes had come out of place (but his had been in for a while and it was ‘time’ for them to come out). Hope she feels better soon and ear infections won’t continue to be a problem after this.

Yucky, I’m so sorry. I got to this late but I’m thinkin’ of you!!! Here’s a big hug from Kate and I! You’ll get through this hopefully with as little pain as possible, for you both.September 22, 2007 at 1:18 am #43086AnonymousInactiveSorry she has been so ill. Poor little girl. Hope fully this will be it for you and her. Good luck
From what I’ve been told it could depend on where exactly in the ear the infection is. But that being said, Kayleigh had drainage for the past 18 days, with no infection. Yet in the midst of drainage she would have an hour or three where nothing would drain and I could look and see very thick ear buggers( ick! Sorry if TMI) I could just barely touch a qtip to them and they would string out then her ear would drain again. It truely reminded me of Shrek!September 23, 2007 at 10:04 pm #43167AnonymousInactiveA small update:
Kendra is doing much better now. Thanksgoodness for antibiotics (even when i wish i didn’t have to use them). She is sleeping much better, tolerating her feeds better and is happier. Thanks all for the support.Leo -
