Don't know what to do…

I posted on the introduction thread but I’ll give a quick run down of my situation. My son is 5 months old and 13 lbs, he hasnt gained any weight for 6 weeks. He was diagnosed with exzema and reflux at his appointment 6 weeks ago and with no weight gain prescribed prilisec three days ago. The pedi also suggested I avoid dairy. I’ve been reading through posts here and I’m wondering if I should eliminate milk & soy. Or should I just do the TED? I just want to do all I can to help my little guy, am I jumping the gun here? Should I just see how he does on his meds? I just don’t know what to do and the doctor just confused me more than anything… Thank you for any advice!!

I know I answered you before……I would start the meds, at the highest doses to see if it helps and to see if baby starts putting on weight. you can always back off of the meds…I’d also continue to explore diet, like you’re doing, only ‘because’ of the excema…it’s up to you if you want to do milk and/or soy or the full TED. Everything takes a good two or even three weeks to clear out of your system…so if you start w/ milk and go 2 or even 3 weeks and don’t see the excema clearing up & then you cut out soy for a good two or even 3 weeks & you still don’t see it clearing up, well, then there’s a lot of time that has gone by…your baby could be reacting to corn, wheat, or even something like apples (just an example- while there have been two, at least, on here sensitive to apples- it’s pretty rare)…

Thank you for the reply! Also for the one before, there was a lot of helpful info in there! I just started second guessing myself wondering if I was over-reacting a bit. Your right though, I don’t really want to be eating something that’s bothering him for a long time before figuring it out. I think I’ll do the TED, minus potatos- I’m allergic. He’s on prilisec 2x a day, I just started that thus morning so hopefully that helps. Thanks again!!
