I just wanted to share a quick story that not all doctors are stubborn about learning more about reflux…
When I was trying to get Sarah switched to Zegerid I printed off a HUGE packet of information to send to my pediatrician. She was gone on vacation and then for 2 weeks following that for a family emergency at that time. I ended up going to a 2nd opinion doctor b/c I was anxious to start Zegerid and didn’t want to wait for the regular doctor to return. By the time I saw my doctor, Sarah had been on Zegerid for two weeks. We spoke very highly of her results on it and she thanked me for sending her the information…
So we went last week for Sarah’s 6 month shots and my doctor thanked me AGAIN for sending her all of that information and she said she’s been working with a few pharmacists and pediatricians in the area to spread the word about PPI dosing and medicines and she has since prescribed Zegerid to three other patients with great results!!!
I am so glad that I was able to help three other families! I know it will only be a matter of time before all doctors are on the same page with reflux…but it can be frustrating in the meantime while WE have to educate them!!! LOL
Just wanted to share!

I know that when I was going through the turmoil of trying to convince Myles’ doctor to dose him according to marci-kids recommendations, I was so hopeful that she would learn from our experience and would treat her future reflux infants more adequately. She’s never said anything to me about it, so I can only wonder (or maybe ask her).
It must feel great to get that kind of feedback from your doctor! And hooray for her little patients.

You know, after you go through this hell you want to prevent other parents from going through the same thing. I’m sure some of my friends think that I jump on the “reflux” label for every kid because of how often I mention it. The reality is though I think all babies have it, it just depends on the severity if they need help (meds) or not.

November 2, 2006 at 11:39 am #17072AnonymousInactiveRobin, that’s a good idea…emailing marci-kids and letting them know. Which reminds me, I was thinking last night that it might be a good idea to have marci-kids as a link on our home page. What do the rest of you think of that?
November 2, 2006 at 10:58 pm #17125AnonymousInactiveThat is a great idea to email Marci-kids! I definitely will! I didn’t even think of that!
Robin and Lori- Thank you for your sweet comments. That picture is one of her 6 month shots we had done at Sears. It’s my favorite! Daddy was on the floor playing with her and her smile is priceless! The photographer was trying to figure out what to do to get her to smile (she was being stubborn) and all is took was a little help from dad to get the smiles rolling! She is definitely a daddy’s girl!!!!
