detecting ear infections at home

Can anyone recommend a good product that can help detect an ear infection at home? I’ve seen some products that look like the ear things doctors have at the clinics. I have a hard time telling if its an ear infection or just teething!

Our doc told us they’re no good, but who knows if he just wanted us to keep coming in. Something about false interpretation of readings.

We bought one from one step ahead and haven’t been able to use it effectively as Cooper is a bit of a wiggler…. that being said I loaned it to a friend she used it and was able to tell that her lo had an ear infection… HTH

Gosh, it would be nice to have something at home to use! With Sarah’s tubes about to fall out (or maybe they already have by now) I am already constantly thinking about ear infections. UGH! It would be nice to have a tool at home so I didn’t have to pay a co-pay every time! I’ll be curious if there is something good!

I have an otoscope. I bought it several years ago when Isaac was having a lot of ear infections. It’s been so nice. This one actually came in a kit. It’s called Dr. Dedo’s Family Ear & Throat Examination kit. It comes with an illustrated “guidebook” with pictures so that you can see what an infected ear looks like, etc.

I tried to look up the Dr. Dedo kit but I can’t find it online. Do you have a website that sells it?
