This has nothing to do with reflux but since you all are always so good about giving advice, I thought I would ask your opinions. At Seth’s daycare they spray down the changing table, high chairs, toys, etc. with bleach water after each use. I *think* this is a state law. Well, he has came home twice now with bleach stains on his pants. Thankfully, both pair were play pants or I would be really p*** but what worries me even more than that is if he is getting bleach on his clothes, I am worried they may not be wiping it up well enough and he could be laying in bleach when they change him! Should I say something?
February 20, 2006 at 10:51 am #1974AnonymousInactiveOMG! I would say something! Especially since it was on his clothes! I would absolutely be worried about that too. They should be completely washing whatever off with water after they use the bleach!
February 20, 2006 at 8:33 pm #2028AnonymousInactiveTiffany, I would definitely mention it to them. We had the same issue. Kaelyn was wearing a brand new denim jumper and she came home with bleach stains all over her bottom. I was really ticked off. I talked to the director about it. I don’t know if it helped any, but it made me feel better.

It’s been over ten years since I worked in day care, but I do think that we could wipe it off after we sprayed though. So they should have been able to get the surface dry.
February 20, 2006 at 8:54 pm #2032AnonymousInactiveThat seems very odd to me that the bleach solution wouldn’t be rinsed off afterwards.
February 20, 2006 at 9:14 pm #2035AnonymousInactiveThe solution has to be mixed to a certain concentration of bleach to water, so I think that we couldn’t rinse it off because it would dilute the bleach. Like I said, it’s been over ten years, so my memory is really hazy. It’s also possible that we were told that it was a state regulation when it was just a policy of that particular day care.
February 20, 2006 at 9:14 pm #2036AnonymousInactiveI would definitely mention it. It seems funny that the surface
isn’t dry before they use it again. I would not be a happy
camper!!!February 21, 2006 at 8:34 am #2071AnonymousInactiveKim, I just saw you were having a girl!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!
February 21, 2006 at 9:29 am #2076AnonymousInactiveThanks guys- I did talk to the asst. director yesterday when I picked him up and she is going to tell his teachers to be more careful. She said they must be changing the children too quickly after the changing table is sprayed because they do wipe it up and any amounts that do remain should evaporate if given enough time.
Kim, congrats on baby girl #2!
February 21, 2006 at 7:00 pm #2135AnonymousInactiveThanks! We were both convinced it was a girl, but I really am surprised. Boys run in both of our families, so it’s pretty amazing that we’ll have 2 girls!
Tiffany, while it is really frustrating that it’s not getting wiped up completely I guess the plus side is that you know that they are trying to keep everything as clean as possible. It’s probably better than finding out that they got a violation for not cleaning in between babies!
