So many of you said to put her meds. But she wasn’t on meds before neocate and was stabilized. Now on neocate she is worse than ever. Would you wait the full 2 weeks BEFORE putting her on a ppi so as to see if the neocate works?
Or would you start a ppi NOW?
We already tried prevacid. So now we are down to prilosec or zegerid.
Have any of you heard that children with EE don’t respond to any meds except steroid shots.
If I have to endure one more night of holding her screaming while she whips her head back to swallow, I am going to die of a broken heart! I want to rush out and get her a prescription today, but what if I just need to wait one more week for the neocate to “kick in”?

And I’m sorry, what’s EE? Is it erosive esophagitis? If she has that, doesn’t that mean that she wasn’t stabilized before, because there was damage being done to her esophagus?
Sorry, I might be useless here, I don’t have much experience with allergies until on solids. But, if it were my child, I’d try Zegerid. PPIs have been a lifesaver for us. I wonder if, once you find the right one, if things will get so much better that you could have never imagined it.

Had alot of help from Joel and other moms on the board on how to administer and give the proper dose. It took just a few days to really kick in, used mylanta with it during that time. We just called her ped. gi for samples before we got a script to see if we liked it. For our 6 month old we use 30 mgs. 10 mgs. 3 x a day. Very easy and helping with her pain. She is even taking a few bites of baby cereal, before she was starting to have an aversion.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by the neocate kicking in. It is just a corn based formula that is easier for digestion especially for mspi babies. It won’t stop the acid. I hope you find something to help her soon. Best of luck.

I am new here, just found this site tonight after getting home from taking my son to the Riley Children’s Hospital where I live…..My son is 6 months old and he was put on NEOCATE at 1 month old…it took about 2 weeks or so for the arching of the back and the screaming out in pain to subside…but then it came back and he was put on Zantac and Prilosec at the same time…it worked for a while, then he was switched to prilosec and dallergy, that worked for a while, now he is on a nebulizer and prednisolone…..as of today, so I have to see now how that works….its scary and Im not quite sure what to do either…and to be totally honest with you I had never even heard of NEOCATE until I had my son…my six yr old daughter had none of these problems…..I hope that you can find something that may relieve the pain alittle more….Maureen
