hi everyone! i’m pregnant with our second, and found out pretty early on in this pregnancy that this baby does NOT like dairy ! when i eat dairy, i feel absolutely horrible. maybe this will change once the baby’s born, but since i had to be dairy free while breastfeeding riley, i thought i’d just settle in for the long haul and get some ideas….
since this is big-time baking season for me, i’m having a lot of trouble finding dairy-free margarine that is trans-fat free as well. i used fleischman’s with riley, but didn’t pay much attn to the fact that it had trans fat in it. i would love some ‘stick’ margarine or other substitute that i could use in my baking recipes that bakes up well and tastes good to boot! i will be bringing my own cookies and such to parties so i can partake and hope you guys have suggestions! we have a wild oats near us, as well as a trader joes and mustard seed. they aren’t terribly far, but certainly require some planning on my part to go there. if i knew of some products they may have, i’d gladly take the trip.
thanks in advance! hope everyone is doing fantastically!

Congrats on the new baby!! When are you due?December 4, 2007 at 8:39 am #46094AnonymousInactiveCONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Don’t remember the list, but wanted to congratulate you!!! Welcome to the two baby club!

And we used Smart Balance with Shane.. Its not a stick but a tub.. It has to be the one with the flax oil in it.. the other one has whey. There is also Earths Balance if you think you guys can handle Soy. It is pretty good!December 4, 2007 at 1:32 pm #46105AnonymousInactivethanks everyone ! i’m due in june. pretty exciting, although when i was pregnant with riles, i felt time went SLOOOOOWLY; now i’m thinking, ‘we have so much to do to get ready!’ funny how that is….
hmm, i wonder if i would be able to find a way to measure out the smart balance so i can bake with it?? i guess there’s only one way to find out! thanks for the good ideas! i’ll be sure to let you know how things turn out!HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! i love love love this time of year….trigrl2007-12-04 13:32:59

whoo hoo, baby #2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!from there, Benecol spread is mentioned- something to check out?they also mention crisco (I think I’ve seen one that is trans fats free)also found amongst my links: VegWeb – great site for getting egg/dairy free recipes. For those who are not vegan, they add meat to some of the recipes .. good site to get baking recipes that don’t use eggs and dairy.
