So sorry to hear that she’s been cranky! I really hate teething, and constipation!!!! They both have made Hailey’s reflux exponentially worse. When/why did you switch to the nursers?
March 15, 2007 at 8:30 am #27553AnonymousInactiveI switched her because of the whole “toxic baby bottle” thread, but then you mentioned how just replacing the used ones and not washing them in the dishwasher should be good enough. Is that what you do? Do you know how often they suggest replacing them?
Thanks!
March 15, 2007 at 8:55 am #27556AnonymousInactiveMy comment about “just replacing them regularly and not putting them in the dishwasher likely being good enough” was just my own analysis of everything I’d read. It seems from the readings that the bottles were exposed to very high and frequent unnatural conditions causing them to leach so much chemical. That also seems to be the opinion of the FDA. But of course, it’s hard to know who to trust.
For me, we have so many things to worry about already that I’ve decided to let sanity prevail. I can’t worry about any more “what ifs”. So I did my own research and reading and decided that based on what I’d read, if the bottles are handled as per the instructions, and replaced when they look cloudy, scratched, or worn, then that was fine for us. I have stopped putting them in the steam sterilizer as well as the microwave. It’s a personal choice.
March 15, 2007 at 9:42 am #27560AnonymousInactiveIt seems like a reasonable solution to me as well. I may just buy a couple new ones to start switching out, and not put them in the dish washer anymore, and go with that. I can’t say she’s incredibly gassier from the combo of the bottle & formula mixer, but she has been more uncomfy lately and burping a lot more. I’m headed to Babies R Us today anyway, so I’ll take a look around to see what I find there…
Thanks for the info!

March 15, 2007 at 2:29 pm #27581AnonymousInactiveHey Denise, Ben just got his 6 mo. immunizations yesterday, and is a little crankmeister today too. Claire used to always react to them as well, even days after the shots. Could be they are bothering Dagney a little. I know that stupid oral vaccine had him up at 4:30 with a nasty poopy diaper. Had to change the sheets and everything. GROSS! Hope she is feeling better soon.
You know… seems like Ben goes through about a 2 week cycle. He is bad, gets better, has a few really great days and then it starts over. Anyone else notice this with their little one???
March 16, 2007 at 6:19 pm #27660AnonymousInactiveNaomi,
I swear every time I read your posts I think you’re talking about my Caden. He does the same thing. He will have a few good days only to revert back to fussy days again. I don’t know if it’s 2 weeks, but I definitely notice several good days then several bad days. Maybe it means they’re outgrowing it? I’m hopeful anyway!
