Could this be caused by reflux? (see video link)

My son (9 months) started having these weird head drop episodes, where he would basically drop his head very suddenly and then pick it back up and continue playing. He has a long history of reflux, but this is a new thing for him. I freaked out one evening when he started doing it a lot and we went to the ER. The doc thought it was seizures, but thankfully, he had several episodes during the EEG and they are NOT seizures. So, I’m wondering if it could be reflux rearing its ugly head in a new way. Anyone’s child ever do anything like this? Anyone ever hear of reflux presenting this way?

I got a video of it…he will do it once at 1:45 and then again a few seconds later.

Well, I have personal experience with acid reflux, but with LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) not GERD (gastroesophageal reflux). Carbonated drinks can and will cause acid reflux. With LPR usually patients don’t experience heartburn, but problems with their throat that can include a feeling of something being caught in their throat. I personally have a feeling of postnasal drip and a constant need to swallow or clear my throat. I am not a doctor, but it’s possible you could have LPR which is much more difficult to diagnose and treat. An ENT is your best bet to rule out cancer or LPR. hellbennt2011-12-09 07:54:00
