Hi all….need to pick your brains. AIden is now almost 10 months, weaned himself from elecare(just plain refused another sip) at age 6 months been on nutramigen since then. At thanksgiving started adding 1/2oz good start to his 5 oz bottles(GI suggestion to wean), and slowly went up from there until just recently on all goodstart(took about 1 month). He had yogurt and cheese and cottage chees with no problems before I started the switch….here is my question-SInce we have been on all good start he is puking tons. Sometimes whole feeds. He was always more of a silent refluxer with an occasional puke. Now everyday atleast once a day it is a whole feed, and spitting atleast some of every feed. NO gas, no blood, no diarrhea, mucuos etc. He has not been more crabby than usual or seeming to be in more pain…Just he increase in spit ups. Could he be not tolerating????? and if that was the case why not when we were 50/50 wioth nutramigen??? or just a coincidence???
any thoughts????December 27, 2007 at 3:25 pm #46728AnonymousInactiveMany times an intolerance or allergy doesn’t become an issue until the protein has had a chance to build up in their system, so it is possible that he didn’t have issues early on in the switch because it hadn’t built up yet. But… since he doesn’t seem to have any other signs I’d be reluctant to say that he’s not tolerating it. Sorry, I know that I wasn’t much help.

Landen failed his nutramigen trial- he just isn’t ready. The gas just got really bad and he had bad stomach pain and some spitting where he had grown out of reflux completely- so it was not worth it to us. We will stay on neocate to around 13 months and try alimentum then or maybe soy or goats milk. we are paying for neocate out of pocket now on 1 income. ugh!!! I hope Aiden adjusted to the formula and it was just a fluke he was going through. Let us know how he is!! I know how confusing it can be.January 6, 2008 at 3:04 pm #47021AnonymousInactiveI backed back down to a mix of good start and nutramigen of about 1/2 and 1/2 aND am slowly working my way to all good start again. It seems when I get close to all good start he starts spitting up alot again, Which makes no sense to me bcuz ifhe was not going to tolerate it he would not tolerate the 3 oz he is getting right when it is 1/2 and 1/2????? he has always been more of a silent refluxer (338x in 18hrs on his ph probe with only 8 being visible, meanign spit up 8 times the other 330 were silent). SO, I am not sure whaat to do….As of right now I am slowly working towards all GS again and see what happens. Still no other symptoms….He still refluxes- I can hear him swallow down and make THE face regardless of what formula he is on, has no gas, diarrhea, etc sleeps no worse -which is terribe to start with!!! SO I will keep on keepin on for now….it is just weird to me….
