I was wondering how likely a corn allergy could be… I’ve been off dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, eggs, beef, fish, and shellfish for quite some time and am still seeing occasional blood in the stool and he still has a nasty diaper rash that can only be controlled by copious amounts of Desitin. The stool isn’t as mucousy or as green lately, which I guess is a good sign, but I feel like I still haven’t solved the problem. My last ditch effort before the TED is going to be corn I think, because it seems like a fairly common allergen.
How long would the corn stay in my breastmilk?Should I skip trying corn and just do the TED?HELP!! This is all so frustrating……January 24, 2011 at 3:40 pm #67716hellbenntKeymasterblood in the stool as in red fresh blood like maybe from a fissure
or dark brown, looks like coffee grounds, ‘older’ blood?anyway: try no corn- I’d say a week? or two? no longer than that I would guess…you’d most likely see a difference starting at day 5 or so?January 25, 2011 at 4:07 pm #67723AnonymousInactiveThe blood is always a bright red or pinkish color… never older looking.
I decided to just go ahead with the TED and I started yesterday (minus white potatoes because I read that they were a part of the “nightshade” family). The list of foods from Erin have been a HUGE help in grocery shopping and feeling like I’ve got some variety. I’m excited to see if this works. I have a few more questions about the TED…1) Can I use any maple syrup or honey to sweeten the rice grits? From what I’ve read, maple syrup seems fairly safe. Should I be okay using it or would it be best to avoid it all together?2) Should I already be tracking the diapers and sleeping? Or wait for baseline?3)After I get to baseline, how long should I wait before trying to intro new foods? Which foods should I start with?4) How long should I do the diet like I’m doing it if I think I might need to eliminate one of the foods (such as rice)? I read Erin’s sticky and I know that she eventually eliminated rice, turkey, and sweet potatoes to get to baseline, but I wasn’t sure how long she did it “as is” before tweaking? I have a suspicion that rice might be part of our problem, but today is only day 2, so I’m not sure. But, I would hate to do this for 2 whole weeks if rice is one of the problem foods, because I’m eating SO much of it. Maybe one week? Thanks for your help! :o) I’m feeling good so far… Day one was a success!ctweed2011-01-26 09:20:47

I hope that it isn’t rice and that you get results quickly! -
