Hi Ladies,
i am looking for some input reagarding well.. Kendra’s poosOk. Lately, she is having two bm’s every day (thankful for that), but it is not a whole lot and is irritating her bottom. I am thinking she should have bigger amount. Could she be constipated?. She doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable and is not formed, hard poo (she is on liquid diet anyways) but would you considered that to be constipation? should that be enough for the day? I hope that make sense.iam confused now.October 5, 2007 at 9:27 am #43792AnonymousInactiveJust trying to remember here, did you recently switch her to Zegerid? I know that Mylanta for some babies causes constipation. It did for Landen the 2 days we tried the Zegerid again and his was like that. He’d go a tiny big and his bottom was red and irritated when he did get a little bit out. He’s on Miralax too, I had to up his dose of Miralax those days to “straighten him out”. Have you tried Miralax or Benefiber for her? I’d ask her GI or ped first though.

yes, she was changed to Zegerid. I dind’t know Mylanta can cause constipation problems, i though it was the opposite. I am going to try to give her a dose of her lactullose, to see if that helps. Thanks again.leoOctober 5, 2007 at 8:00 pm #43817AnonymousInactiveMylanta definitely did NOT cause constipation for my girls. But anything is possible!
October 5, 2007 at 10:27 pm #43826AnonymousInactiveZegerid caused pretty bad constipation with Sarah…but I didn’t put it together until TEN MONTHS LATER when I started weaning her from her meds. She pooed little hard jelly bean rocks. Once we started lowering her dose, her stools became softer and larger. I don’t know a good long term solution to the problem. It was a fair trade off for me…I’d take constipation over reflux pain anyday. Mylanta was a good temp. fix…I’d get one good blow out diaper from it but then we’d be back to little rocks again later. Sooooo, I just wanted to let you know that zegerid CAN cause constipation and you might want to discuss options with your doctor. Good luck!

Same here! Also, I had heard that Mylanta could cause constipation OR the runs, but perhaps it is just the zegerid causing the constipation? Maybe it is PPI’s in general? Landen has been constipated since being on a PPI, so we use Miralax. Either way, I hope things “get moving” for her soon! -
