My 2.5 month old is very hard to get to sleep. Once in awhile he does fine but usually the second we enter his room he starts fussing, crunching, and rooting like he’s hungry. He swings his head back and forth like crazy and tries to eat my shirt. I know he isn’t truly hungry but I’m wondering if it’s a comfort thing to make his throat feel better? I’ve tried a pacifier but he just sucks on it and spits it out and screams. I can give him a bottle and he’ll suck on it a little and maybe drink and ounce or two and then be ready to sleep. I know normally they say not to feed before sleep, but I’m not sure what else to do!
try a squirt (1ml) of mylanta cherry supreme. mylanta is adult meds, but safe even for a newborn. we all say mylanta cherry supreme bcse this particular kind doesn’t have any aluminum. it might be hard to find, and some have had success finding a generic store brand version, making sure to read the ingredients and find the variety w/o the aluminum. you can give in 1ml increments, up to 5ml a day. if you see loose stools ‘just’ back off.
