Hey guys,
Well, some of you know that Kate had a scope done yesterday. It was our last ditch effort to try and figure out what’s going on with her. We didn’t take to the decision lightly but for us, it was so incredibly worth it I can’t even tell you!First off, we got to stay with her the WHOLE time which was such a must for me,the tightly wound ball of anxiousness It was crazy because they didn’t use an I.V but gave her gas and within 5 breaths her whole body went limp. Crazy and VERY scary but the doctors and nurses at this surgery center were amazing. Our G.I walked us through the whole scope and everything was great. Esophogus, airway, stomach, bowell. Yay! These PPIs do work!!! Anyway, he took some blood(after she was asleep)to check her thyroid and something alse I can’t remember but said that,as most of you mentioned, testing for allergies this young us too unreliable. Oh well! I’ve been on dairy and soy for over three weeks now and I haven’t seen anything weird so hopefully, cross your fingers,we’re in the clear. When she came out of the anesthesia she was really disoriented and wouldn’t really nurse mostly b/c she was scared and doesn’t like to nurse in strange places to begin with but(big sigh),she fussed herself to sleep in the car, took a three hour nap, and was her same charming self. Dh and I kept looking at eachother the rest of the day like “did what happened this morning really happen?” You would never have been able to tell. The anesthesia was what I was most worried about but the docs helped us read all her vitals on the screen so we new exactly what was happening. We also got all kinds of fun pictures for her baby book!!!(esophogus, stomach, airway etc…) Kinda funny.Anyway, so the skinny is that everything on the inside looks fine. The meds have done their job and I feel really confident that we’re doing everything we should be doing at this point. It’s a relief that’s for sure!!Thank you so much to you amazing, couragious mommies You are incredible. You have walked me through, holding my hand, some of the hardest moments of my life so far and for your prayers and support I will always be grateful!!!! I know it’s definately not smooth sailing necessarily from this point out but it sure is a relief to know there’s no extensive damage on the inside. This is such a personal decision but for us, we really tried treating Kate conservatively and putting off this procedure for when we felt like what we were doing wasn’t enough but this was a great victory for us to know that everything’s okay on the inside. For all of you who are contemplating it, it wasn’t NEARLY has horrible as I had pictured in my mind and believe me, I have a vivid imagination that gets away from me sometimes She was fine and we felt confident that she was in safe secure hands the entire time. Praise God that everything worked out!!!August 2, 2007 at 1:09 pm #40342hellbenntKeymastera hug for you mama!!!

How is Kate doing today??August 3, 2007 at 7:05 pm #40455AnonymousInactiveThanks for asking Leo!! She is totally fine. Although we had a phyisical therapist come today from First Steps(just to help with her trunk strength)and she was sooooooo mad the whole time that pretty much the therapist taught me the exersizes on Kate’s stuffed puppy dog, Milo. Pretty funny. I have no idea why she was so cranky
She was fine right after the procedure as soon as she took a good nap. Afterwards and untill she cryed herself to sleep she was all out of sorts. I think she was scared, tired, felt funny, etc…. It’ll be fine, don’t worry -
