Clarification on Zegerid please–Joel!!

The GI REALLY underdosed!!! It doesn’t matter anymore, I took my twins off the prevacid…they are doing much better off it, t hey were having a lot of side effects. I’m not really sure Kaylee needs meds anymore, she still vomits (not spitting, vomits) but she is much happier and awake more often. Connor on the other hand still has reflux symptoms.

Went to the ped. today…love him! He never heard of Zegerid before, so I showed him a print out from the MARCI-kids site. He had no problem writing me a script for it, although he did say it would probally be easier to do just twice a day. Is it ok to do that? I’m really concerned with daycare because she doesn’t give meds.

Also, are these the directions I follow for a 20 mg. He wants me to give 5mg twice a day http://www.marci-kids.com/mixing20.html

I’d contact marci-kids directly, or try to find other posts about giving zegerid, as I truly dont know…but 2x a day should be fine…

Hi Kristin,

Maybe Joel will jump back in here….but in case he doesn’t; he told me that in their tests they found that it took 7 mg of Zegerid in a dose for there to be enough buffer so that the medication wouldn’t get destroyed. Here’s a link back to that message:

My little guy had a terrible time on Prevacid solutabs too. Getting Zegerid down him has been a serious challenge (totally a flavor thing) but he has reacted to it MUCH better than prevacid. I actually have seen improvement on Zegerid.

Hi All,

I’ve emailed Joel but haven’t heard back. Does anyone know exactly how much Zegerid I should give my twins? My son is 4 months (10 week preemature) and weighs 11lbs 11oz. My doc looked at the MARCI-kids stuff I printed out and did some calcuations based on what it sais and figured that he should be getting 10mg a day. But Joel had said somewhere that you need to give atleast 7mg per dose for it to work. I want to start him on the meds but I don’t want to over or underdose him. And can it be given just twice a day?

Also, I think I want to start my daughter on it. She’s the same age but 8 lbs 8 oz.
