For those who are not familiar with ChocoBase and CaraCream, they are buffered, flavored suspension agents used for making stable liquid compounds of PPIs such as Prevacid and Prilosec and designed for pediatric use. They were created by Dr Jeffrey Phillips and are sold by the University of Missouri – Columbia. In the United States they are only available to participants in the study conducted by the University of Missouri mentioned above. This is due to a non-compete agreement with Santarus Inc., the makers of Zegerid Powder for Oral Suspension, which is a similar product that already contains the PPI omeprazole. We highly recommend the use of Zegerid for infants and children.
ChocoBase and CaraCream are still available for retail sale outside of the US. For more information, email: [email protected].
