Robin,

Myles hated tummy time until he outgrew his reflux. About a month later (so about 10 months) he just started hanging out on his belly, pushing up on his arms, rolling front to back and back to front, and finally got to hands and knees, and was crawling in no time. He previously had been way behind, and wasn’t even rolling stomach to back yet. So, he learned all of this in only a matter of weeks. It was amazing.

I was really worried, too and I though he’d never crawl, but as soon as he was feeling better his development just took off. Now’s he’s standing, cruising around furniture, and he can walk with a push toy. I think he’ll be walking in a few weeks.

I’m sure Abby will catch up too.

LOL on the inchworm, that must be cute, as opposed to my little guy (first) I always thought he looked a bit like a dog who had worms when he scooted like that!!

Aidan has always been a tummy sleeper, since she was 6 weeks old. I used to struggle with the SIDS issue nightly, but it finally came to the point that I was more concerned with her laying on her back and choking on her vomit. She used to wake up in puddles of it, and she puked in her sleep until her fundo. It slowed down a bunch, but it was to the point that I was changing her sheets after every nap, bedtime, etc because of it when she was newborn-4 months old. So, I talked with her doctor about it, and he okayed it for her to sleep on her belly.

Until her fundo, I never even thought to attribute her lack of crawling or movement to her reflux. Literally, the day we got her home from the hospital she started crawling. It was like she could do it before, but didn’t want to. She is so much more active now that her reflux is bothering her all the time.

Hi there
My 5 month old daughter has been doing this for a few weeks too, we have to go flip her over pretty regularly! She’s happy playing on her tum when she’s awake but if she wakes up on her tum and can’t move she gets very annoyed.

I’m also trying to teach her to roll back (she started rolling tummy to back at 13weeks but has recently forgotten how!).

I was re-reading this post since it popped back up again and happened to look at the date I originally posted. Sarah could not ROLL BACK OVER on November 1st and by November 24th…she was crawling! WOW I had forgotten how fast that happened! It’s amazing how quickly they learn things.
