Buffer Babies – Which meds?

For those of you who are using or have used BB, what meds are you using? I’m
considering a med switch to some OTC stuff (Prilosec or the off brand), which I could then dose
according to LO’s correct level. But if someone rec’mds using something else, I
could ask the doc for a switch to Prevacid capsules (since she’s on the Solutabs as it is).

we first used prilosec then we switched to prevacid w/ the bufferbabies (then called caracream)- the prilosec is more bitter mixed w/ bufferbabies than the prevacid.

I don’t think you can use OTC prilosec w/ your baby? something about the enteric coating? not sure how you’d dissolve it- I know you cannot crush it…well, you probably can use the otc prilosec, you just cannot use it with the bufferbabies…

There are actually directions in the new BB kit that shows you how to use OTC Prilosec, the generic version of Prilosec OTC (omeprazole), Nexium, and Prevacid. So I was trying to get a feel of what everyone else used.Knowing how hard it is for us to get the docs to give us the right doseage of Prevacid, I was leaning toward something OTC.

cool, then! if you can use OTC, then go for it! I just know that Lori, s&h’smum, posts how bitter prilosec tastes w/ bufferbabies, but you gotta do what you gotta do…maybe even ask them (refluxsolutions) if there’s any sweetner you can add in yourself or even natural flavorings like vanilla extract (not in alcohol), etc, that you could add if flavor becomes an issue…
