I don’t have too much to say, just wanted to offer support! All these ladies have pretty much given all the information you need to make an informed decision.
I have been BFing my LO for over a year and a half on an elimination diet because of his food intolerances. I agree that although you’re on TED it could still be something in your diet. I’ve read a number of moms say their LO cannot tolerate rice, and rice is usually a staple in a TED diet. Try swapping things out to see it if makes a difference (like quinoa for rice).
If you supplement at all or decide to try formula again IMO I would go straight to an elemental formula. Nutramigen is the same type of formula as Alimentum so i don’t hold out much hope that it’s going to be any different.
Hang in there!! You’re doing great!
August 6, 2012 at 3:07 pm #70670AnonymousInactiveWondering if it was the formulas that didn’t work or that she just wouldn’t take a bottle.
She still won’t take a bottle (even w fresh b milk).
She better (she’s eating) but still quite fussy. I’ll take rice out. Ped did call and say when she looked up rotovirus vax it said it could manifest a reaction in bloody stool.
Having hubs picked up probiotic today, something called paragon plus. I hadn’t had time to research brands other than the mail order one mentioned. It does say it may have trace amts of soy/milk. Should I return it for another?
Has anyone had luck with chiro on baby to treat reflux?sopamanda2012-08-06 15:47:27
August 6, 2012 at 4:07 pm #70671AnonymousInactiveOk, here’s what has been in my diet for the last two months or so:
turkey (haven’t always been good about doing free range, I have eaten lots of nitrate free hot dogs.Rice, lots of it (cut this out??)squash, green and yellowwatercoffeepecan sandiesreese pb cupsan occasional pepsi (remember I was nursing every hour to 2 hours).lays potato chipsrice milk and rice puff cereal for bfast. Not perfect but I thought we had it managed until the poops and frequent nursings hit us like a ton of bricks, very suddenly.Prior to that I ate the same and she nursed around every 2 hours during the day, 2-3 at night. She pooped every 2-3 days. So, things you would recommend diet wise?August 6, 2012 at 4:43 pm #70672hellbenntKeymasterI would try to get to a ‘baseline’
this is explained in the links below.Information overload, I know! But it’ll help you…I’d eat: organic/free range ground turkey & ground lamb (cut out the turkey dogs and, if you were eating beef hotdogs, that too), yellow squash, white potatoes and sweet potatoes.I would look at the ingredients of the lays potato chips- they USED to be ‘safe’ but somehow I don’t think they are anymore?Ok they look ok here’s the ingredients of lays classic potato chipsLook at ingredients in various brands- you just want potato, oil & salt, that’s it…You could make your own? http://aminerecipes.com/2012/01/21/baked-potato-chips/No rice for a good 4 to 5 days. See how things go and then add in something for the rice, like barley or quinoa or oatmeal. Give THAT a good 4 or 5 days and see what happens….if you find a grain that’s good, then add in some avocado (good fat). I would cut out the caffeine, nuts (pecan sandies) and legumes (peanut butter cups) for sure. I’d add in PEAR nectar to drink (check ingredients! just pear & water! no corn syrup!!) – you can add seltzer to make it refreshing…:August 6, 2012 at 5:19 pm #70673AnonymousInactiveNope, Laura, that’s exactly what I was looking for.
THanks!Any thoughts on trying chiro?August 6, 2012 at 7:23 pm #70676hellbenntKeymastermy son went to the chiro! It didn’t help…BUT, it didn’t hurt!
we were DESPERATE…we even went to a QUACK (STAY AWAY FROM ‘BODY TALK!!!”)what helped, for my son was a proper dosing of PPI, administered properly (w/ ‘the products’)…(I did the elimination diet and found I could not eat: tomatoes/tomato products, citrus, tuna & eggplant)August 9, 2012 at 9:15 am #70715AnonymousInactiveUpdate:
Still not better. Eliminated all extras as well as gr squash and rice products sunday or Monday.
Days seem to be better (napped a few short times yesterday), nights have been pretty awful. I’ve had to feed her 3 times the past two nights to get her to sleep. Nights–she’s up every two hours at the most.
Have not started probiotics yet (haven’t been able to get out, husband got one that had soy). Seeing a pediatric Chiro this afternoon.
