Hi All!
I’m new to this forum, but am hoping that you all might have some advice for me, I’ll try to keep it brief.
My daughter, Violet, was diagnosed with GERD at 4 weeks after spitting up blood. WE started on 15 mg of Prevacid, then two months later moved to Tagamet, then two months later moved to Prilosec, and have now been med free for 6 weeks! She is almost 11 months old. We tapered her off slowly, and saw very minor rebound for the first week and then nothing since -which of course we have been thrilled with!
However, she got a bunch of vaccinations 8 days ago, and ever since she got them, she has had VERY foul smelling black poop -I feel like it almost smells acidic! or maybe metallic? She’s also waking in the middle of the night, in a deep sleep, screaming JUST like she did with GERD. She’s definitely been spitting up more and has been less interested in eating solids. She also appears to be so tired all the time, which I feel like I remember her being pre-medication.
She has tested positive for blood in her poop in the past, before medication, but her poop was never black! Could we be experiencing rebound after 6 weeks? Is GERD the type of thing that can be brought back on from stress (the shots) even after it’s been in remission for a while? If so should we wait it out or put her back on meds?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks
