First, I want to say I am so GRATEFUL Rylie has tubes in her ears!!! The other night she tossed and turned the entire night……she then woke up at 4:00 am in the morning just ever so cranky. I could not soothe her and after a while, I started to get irritated…..and just put her down. I took her temp and no fever, but I gave her some Tylenol anyways thinking she was starting a cold or something.
When I took her to daycare, she wanted to sit on my knee as I kneeled down……at this point, her hair touched my cheek and I was wondering why my cheek got wet. When I looked, there was drainage coming out. I felt so bad because I was getting irritated with her earlier this morning. So I went home and got her the drops. When I picked her up later in the afternoon I saw there was blood coming out along with the drainage. This kind of alarmed me, so I called the ENT answering service and the doc on call called me back and said this is a sign she has a BAD infection and to continue the drops and if in 3 days it has not cleared up to call our regular ENT to schedule an appointment because she may need an oral antibiotic to help the infection out. I am hoping it will be better by then, but in the mean time, I have to keep a cotton ball in her ear otherwise it becomes a mess all over her face and hair.If your ENT tells you, you should have tubes put into your little one’s ears, I would do it……..I have to say it beats the kidos suffering with a fever and having all hat drainage sit in their ear drum.July 3, 2007 at 10:01 pm #38527AnonymousInactiveAwww, I’m so sorry to hear about a yucky ear infection! I hope she gets better soon. I’m definately NOT looking forward to Kate’s first infection, it’s inevitable though Bummer!

July 4, 2007 at 9:26 am #38543AnonymousInactiveOh, I remember when I was little and I had tubes and I would always wake up with my hair stuck to my cheek b/c of the draining! My edrums would rupture with almost every ear infection! It was horrible, but actually felt so much better after they burst! That is why I feel so bad when kids have ear problems! It’s just so painful!!!!
Hope she’s better soon!July 4, 2007 at 11:09 pm #38582AnonymousInactiveThank you ladies for all of your kind words and thoughts!!!! Her ear is actually getting better……there is no more blood coming out with the drainage, but it is still really, really yellow…….but at least there’s no more blood.
I am VERY THANKFUL for the tubes though!!!! I really think we made the right choice with having the tubes being put in……otherwise, we would be living in you know where at this point.hpaterniti2007-07-04 23:11:01
