Monday Grant was admitted to the hospital because of spasm like movements. Anyway,they were thinking that G was having sandifiers episodes until I showed the dr. the video we had and they decided he needed a CT, EEG and blood work. He asked about G and his eating, meds, temperment etc… and than decided that #1 I was over medicating him #2 told me prevacid has nasty side effects and he should be on zantac #3 he doesn’t believe that G has Gerd #4 they were only going to give him prevacid liquid once a day while in the hospital. I was livid and would of walked out if we weren’t so scared that there was something seriously wrong with our baby. ANyway CT and EEG were normal and we are seeing a peds neurologist tomorrow to find out whyt he is having these spasms. Before the hospital trip happened I managed to get Grant to gain 9 ozs in 5 days( as of Monday he was 13lbs 10ozs) which he has never done and we were so happy 🙂 but, since the jackarse dr. wasn’t giving him the right dose of meds he has stopped eating. Tues he ate 8 ozs all day, Weds he ate 14 ozs all day and today thanks to me putting him back on his meds he has taken 2 5ozs bottles so far- which is normal for him. We got home really late last night so I hope I can get him back on track and gain what he has lost back. I just wanna kick that dr. in his rearend. How can he say that G doesn’t have Gerd if prevacid is CLEARLY working at the 7.5mgs 3x’s a day?!?!?!
Also he had a swallow study done while we were in the hospital and it showed no dysphagia. The speach path said that may be because his GERD in undercontrol and his throat is healing. But wait the Dr. said he doubted G had GERD cuz yeah it’s normal for babies to starve themselves and parents jump through hoops to get there “normal” kids to eat- sure doc whatever you say. We see the peds GI on Tuesday so we will see what he says. In the mean time I’m doing what we have been doing for the past week and a half since he gained a good amount of weight. I also looked in my 3 year olds medical records and his GI doc had written 1mg per kg per dose max 3x’s a day for prevacid. Ok sorry for the long vent but I’m just so annoyed.
