Greetings, everyone!
My son Brady is 5.5 months old, and is eating lots of different foods. He has cereal in the morning with bananas, a veggie at lunch, and cereal with dinner before bed.Recently (the past few days) he has started boycotting his Nutramegin again. He has hated it from the start, and we’ve had to add a little white grape juice to get him to drink it since he was about 2 months. Now that he has had a chance to try all of these other foods, he is totally boycotting formula. I know it is a taste thing because last night after thrashing, pusing his lips and refusing one drop of the formula, he eagerly drank nearly 6 ounces of Pedialyte. We tried Brady on Enfamil with Lipil at 2 months at his ped’s recommendation to see if his stomach had matured enough to break down the proteins in the milk. He had severe stomach pain and distress with it, so after trying some alternatives, we put him back on the Nutramegin. It’s been over three months, and I am wondering whether to give it another try. He loved the Enfamil with Lipil, but could not break it down.I don’t want to put the little guy through distress, but at the same time I am having a tough time getting any formula into him, and it is supposed to be his primary source of nutrition… so I am at a cross-roads.Anyone been through anything similar? Any ideas on when his tummy may be mature enough to give regular formula another try? Thanks in advance!October 19, 2007 at 12:18 pm #44472AnonymousInactiveYou might try Goodstart . My little girl is on this and was on Nutramegin for awhile. All Good start formula’s have comfort protein’s and this is makes it easier on babies tummies becasue everything is broken down.

I am planning to wait until at least 9 months before I transition, but Cooper loves the Nutramigen so we don’t have an issues with him taking his formula. Good Luck, let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately, we’ve tried Good Start, and he won’t take it – same with Gentlease. The only one the boy likes is regular Enfamil with Lipil, but it really did a number on his tummy when we tried it again at 2 months.October 19, 2007 at 9:38 pm #44497AnonymousInactiveJust an idea.. maybe try mixing the two together? maybe mix the enfamil and goodstart until he takes just goodstart. I actually think the goodstart smells better then the enfamil. But maybe now he might drink the goodstart since it tasts a lot better then the nutramigen. I would probably wait until 9 mos for the enfamil. shanesmom2007-10-19 21:39:35
