Hi again ladies
Just wondering if your toddler complains his/her mouth hurts
This is zach’s biggest complaint and I actually thing it is bothering him
less now that he is OFF prevacid?
It seems most mom’s with toddlers still dealing with reflux complain of a
tummy ache
Zach only complains that his mouth hurts and asks for lots to drink…he
doesn’t seem in pain and eats fine
I’m wondering if it is more seasonal allergies or a side effect of one of his
allergy meds?
I’ve been dealing with congestion/allergies the past few days and my
throat feels constantly dry
Thanks for any insight

The only other thing I can think of is maybe it’s his throat that hurts and he doesn’t know how to describe that.
The last thing that comes to mind is unlikely but if it were my child I’d ask the doctor to check for type 1 diabetes. I know that’s a terrifying thought…but excessive thirst is a sign of it and I’d be worried until we ruled that out. Sorry to be an alarmist….but I’d probably mention it to his doctor to be on the safe side.

So who knows it could cause some pain at the jaw or something to make them say mouth vs throat. She also requests lots of drinks when she does this…… almost frantic like. That’s great that Zach is complaining less now that he’s off prevacid maybe with him it was opposite of my dd. We also deal with allergies and I’ve taken her on and off her meds but I’ve not noticed any changes with mouth complaints. Good Luck I feel like we are always dealing with some puzzle regarding our lo’s.

Sorry for all the questions…i am just so torn
Zach is doing well OFF prevacid, eating is good, his weight is good
I’m still unsure how much reflux is an issue and don’t want to put him
through any testing if it isn’t needed
Our ped who I just spoke with said he didn’t think we should consider
testing at this time
Zach has been asking for lots to drink today..it’s always milk (rice milk)
but seems happy after he gets his drink, playing, eating etc
I am just afraid damage is being done

Take care,
