My ds is allergic/intolerant to milk & soy & we went to Rice Milk w/ him (didn’t even attempt the cow’s milk or soy milk). He LOVES it. We did end up w/ a dietician @ the children’s hospital & we now add some supplemental calories to his rice milk 2x/day (w/ Polycose powder fwiw). He says he much prefers a drink that the child will drink (ie; rice milk, almond milk, etc) over Neocate Jr. He said he rarely suggests Neocate Jr. unless absolutely necessary (b/c of other dietary deficiencies).
Anyway, I would try something else (like coconut, almond or rice milk). The rice milk is calcium & vitamin fortified so you just have to make up the difference (vs. cow’s milk) w/ the fat & protein (in other areas of the diet).
