i am so discouraged. my daughter is almost 7 weeks and all she ever does is cry! if shes awake shes crying! im starting to be concerned about her development bc she wants to be held all the time…how is she ever going to learn to roll over sit up ect?
December 15, 2010 at 8:45 pm #67389hellbenntKeymasteronce she is not in pain the crying will lessen/stop.
my baby shrieked/howled so much.so much.HOLD THAT BABY until you get her comfortable…do you have any zantac?
you can give that, too, until you get the meds ‘right.’ You can give it w/ prevacid, just make sure to space it 4hrs from the prevacid.zantac can go up to 10mgs per kilo- don’t just take my word on this, read here:https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8288&PN=1
It sounds like I’m a drug-pusher! It’s just that I KNOW that they work! I also know how hard it is until you get it figured out! so, in the meantime, you have to do what you have to do. You can ALWAYS back-off. for example, you give zantac & prevacid and finally get prevacid as high as marci-kids recommends. then, you stop the zantac and see what happens. all the while, trying to figure things out, like is it ‘diet’ i.e. MSPI?
read post two of here for more about the relationship b/t reflux and food intolerances/allergies:
https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2697&PN=2how ispoop: ‘normal’ (peanut butter consistancy)? watery?green poops (some green poops are perfectly normal! just not all the time!), mucousy (stringy like the inside of a banana peel, curdy like cottage cheese, looks like snot)?
gas: foul-smelling, painful gas?
grunting & straining to poop: looks like she’s having difficulty passing a stool, bu,t when it comes out, it is soft?
if you’re formula-feeding:here’s about the elemental formulas-
https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6013
everything takes two weeks so if you were to switch you’d have to give it two weeks and then there are no guarantees- if you’re breastfeeding, you can also modify/alter your diet to make your own milk into an elemental formula of sorts- this is called the TED- total elimination diet-this also takes two weeks and then you start adding foods in to see what you CAN eat.scroll to the last page of this post, called Prevacid 101 (it’s actually also about other PPIs like prevacid, too) you’ll learn why.

I would inquire about Zegerid or Bufferbabies- this is all explained from the link- PPIs can take up to 14 days for you to see it’s full effects…so that’s another reason to stay w/ the zantac.
I have a LOT MORE to say, it’s Looong, but full of very helpful info, so refer back to it often!
