Hi, alimentum moms, i am trying to figure something out and need your help.
dd has reflux and has been on alimentum and prevacid since she was 1 mo old. I have 2x tried to put her on goodstart but it did not work. She was growing wonderfully until she started eating solids, now she has hit a wall. She should have tripled her birthweight by now but has barely doubled it. I have tried solids slowly, 1 at a time to check for allergies but have not found any obvious issues with the food. She just had bloodwork that ruled out a thyroid problem or celiac disease. They neglected to check for milk allergy and I will have her tested next month at her 1yr appt. She has never really had solid poops but I was told that is how alimentum babies are. do you think the alimentum is the reason she has very soft mucousy poops or could it be a food allergy? (there is no blood in her poop)tia, maggieDecember 12, 2007 at 8:36 pm #46350AnonymousInactiveHi Maggie,
I think soft poos are normal for alimentum.. but not mucousy ones. That def. could be from an intolerance of allergy.
As for the celiac test.. the bloodwork might not rule it out completely. If “kevieb” comes on here.. she might be able to help you more with that.
And as for tripleing her birthweight by a year.. I am not so sure. How much did she weigh when she was born? Shane was 8 and a half pounds and def. DID NOT weigh 25 pounds when he was turning a year. I think he was about 20 pounds and the ped. wasnt too concerned. How much does she weight now??December 15, 2007 at 2:55 pm #46412AnonymousInactivethanks for the reply!
DD was 8.6 lbs at birth and by 6 months she was almost 17 lbs. Since she started solids she hasn’t really gained much. She will be 1yr on 12/30.The ped did not seem too concerned at her 9 mo cu but the ped gi saw her thanksgiving week and was slightly concerned about her weight. She will be seeing the ped for 1yr cu 1st wk in jan and then she will be seeing the ped gi again after that. DD seems happy and content right now but something just doesn’t feel right to me.December 18, 2007 at 11:57 am #46477AnonymousInactiveAlimentum poop used to be black/dark green and very liquid .But oflast it has thinkened alot.
ananya was 8.3 lbs at birth and now at 3 months she is 13.4 lbs not a bad gain but she has gained 4 1/2 inchs in length.weight is not a true parameter of health , how is the baby`s general social development and response to stimuli is the correct one.silverfz2007-12-18 11:58:26

He turned out to have major milk issues. He was tested 4 times for allergies (all results were opposte then the test before) before I learned there is really no accurate way to test for allergies in little kids and really no way to test for milk protein issues period. I just avoided the dairy, except eggs, alltogether. He grew slowly until he hit about 3, now he is 4 and is catching up nicely.
As for the poop…my son was super constipated on the Nutramigen. Good luck. -
