Hi there! We’re also in Canada- in TO. We saw the team at sick kids, and they also weren’t concerned about my daughter’s feeding, said that she wasn’t in any pain, that we didn’t need more meds, etc. etc… All the while she was arching, and screaming, and refusing feeds. Finally the GI saw the behaviour and realized that it was esophagitis.
For some kids the behaviour is more subtle… refusing to eat is a classic sign that there’s pain. Some kids just have a higher threshold, or don’t scream and cry about it.
I’d ask for the prevacid and a good dose of it, and see if that helps. I might also ask for an endoscopy if things don’t improve.
Hang in there. Keep fighting for someone to take her situation seriously. We saw 5 doctors- I refused to accept that she was “fine” just because she was slowly gaining weight. One doctor actually said to me “I know that you say it’s not easy to feed her, and I can understand that it’s a challenge. But nobody said that being a parent was easy… She’s gaining weight so obviously she’s getting enough for her and you need to stop worrying abou it”- this was said as my child wouldn’t take any food/drink/bottle while awake and needed to fed, refluctantly, while asleep.
Your her mom, and you know if something’s right or not. Don’t give up.
