A question about Sandifer's

My son is 7 weeks old and has suffered from reflux since 4 weeks. And I think he also has Sandifer’s.
I am wondering if Sandifer’s symptoms need any special treatment or if it will just go away automatically when the reflux problem is under control.

My son is on Prevacid once daily (7.5mg), and I still can see Sandifer’s on him. Does this mean that he is still in a lot of pain and may need to have a higher dose?

my son had sandifer’s and once he was on proper meds it went away- when I saw them return I knew it was time for a med increase (well other symptoms, too, but the sandifers would return when it was time to increase meds, usually due to weight gain, as the meds are weight sensitive)

The Sandifer’s should definitely go away once the reflux pain is under control. My second son continued to have Sandifer’s symptoms at that age, even on 22.5 mg Prevacid/daily. It wasn’t until we got up to 30 mg/day that it finally stopped and he was much happier.

Please do check out the marci-kids info and push for a higher dose. Many docs are not aware of this research, but some are. We switched doctors three times before finding someone who would prescribe 30 mg/day. It was so essential to helping my son. Good luck!
