I have posted a few times for different reasons, meds? tests? so on. I am at the point where I am sooo tired, physically and mentally. I am trying to manage my demanding 6 month old and toddler who is living up to the terrible 2’s. It seems when the baby is having a bad day my 2 year old decides this is a good day to slap my mom in the face.
All that aside, I am wondering if anyone else has second guessed everything and wondered if they caused all the the GI issues. I wonder if when I was bF’g the blood in the stool was from taking his temp and not allergic colitis, or if the constpation is from the meds and formula (elecare) or if he simply was colic and we should have never put him on meds. Is there tests they can do to say deffinately he has MSPI or a test that says yes he has acid reflux. I am (and Im sure my LO is) tired of the trial and error game. He is 6 mo old and he slept thru the night 1 day FEB10th, I try to remember what I did differently that day, I know he pooped in the evening, and I think at that time he was on Nutramigen and 15mg of prev. Not sure about the prevacid. Now he gets up every hour like clockwork and seems to try and pass gas or have a bm. But nothing ever happens. If I leave hime in his crib he gets hysterical. He doesn’t always have to feed when he gets up at night, but he deffinatley has to be soothed by me. weather it be holding (standing only) or lying him on the pillow next to me touching my face (ridiculous, the baby and I are more romantic than hubby and I ) . any body have any ideas, or have gone thru the same thing. I feel crazy. HELP!March 8, 2009 at 10:26 am #61488AnonymousInactiveBoy do I know your pain, I second guess all the time but it is easy to do because there are so many variables. We had a bad night last night and all night I thought about what I can do different. Should I stop prevacid, should I stop BF’d, was it those chocolate chip cookies I ate that are bothering my LO. Having gone through this once already with my 2 yr old I feel a bit more confident in saying that there is no recipe for success at this point and you just have to wait it out. The hope is that by the time they are 1 it will be over or better and just take each day as it comes. I HATE reflux so much it hasd ensured I won’t have any more kids-so sad but true. I also think back to my first son and I wonder if the meds ever helped him or if it was something he had to outgrow-I still second guess his reflux. Everyday I have a new idea, whether it be about meds, how to get him to sleep, what I should eliminate from my diet etc. My husband says I just have to accept things the way they are and wait for time to pass but I can’t. All I do is think about reflux-Good luck and keep doing what your doing,
March 8, 2009 at 12:52 pm #61489hellbenntKeymasterugh. it’s so hard! maybe try neocate for a good 3 weeks? sometimes one formula works over another?
as for tests, you might want to ask for an endoscopy- they’ll take a look in there and see if there’s ulcerations, inflamations and they’ll take biopsies for EOS cells- that would tell you for sure if there’s an allergy, not an intolerance though…the gas & constipation sounds like MSPI- there’s a great article on page 2 on the ‘main’ MSPI link:Mspi/allergy info(‘main page’): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2697&PN=1&TPN=1
also, sounds crazy & I don’t want to make you more crazy, but some babies cannot tolerate elecare or neocate due to CORN…
sue)Allergic to corn- ie no neocate: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9319&PID=81148#81148
(sue again, replying to gina- breastfeeding ingo to (TED)https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11324&PN=1
here’s more allergy vs intolerance:
Accuracy of allergy testing & great post by sherri explaining IgE and IgG (intolerance/allergies) https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=10815
Allergies-PATCH, panel, RAST testing, etc- allergies & intolerances, too:

and here’s just one more thing to add into the mix…can help w/ digestive issues: -
