Has anyone had this done?

I just wanted to tell everyone about our experience with this test. We had this done in July, and they went in and put a probe down Aidan’s nose into her esophagus. The probe was constantly measuring the pH of her esophagus. This test was a pain, but SO WORTH IT! It told us that everytime she coughed, she was refluxing. We were able to see exactly which symptom went with reflux and which didn’t. We were also able to see exactly how severe her reflux is.

We had this test done yesterday/today. I agree, it was worth it. It went

much more smoothly than I had anticipated, and once the probe was in

(took less than 4 minutes), he didn’t seem bothered at all by it. He crawled

around with the computer strapped to his back like he had always had it

there. He did however manage to pull out the probe in the parking lot of the

doctor’s office on our way to get it removed. Oh well! I had mixed emotions

about the results–happy to know I wasn’t crazy, but sad that he really is

still in pain, not just sleeping poorly out of habit. The good news is now the

doctor is willing to treat him more aggresively, and has agreed to trial

Zegerid. I also felt very validated for never letting my dd (also a horrific

sleeper) CIO. I’m now 100% positive she was also a silent refluxer, but we

never medicated her–just slept in a recliner for 18 months.

Glad to hear your experience went well. This test was a life saver for us! I truly believe that the doctors never would have believed how severe Aidan’s reflux was if not for the results of this test.

BTW, your Dominic was born the day I wanted to have Aidan. I was due the 19th, but was hoping for a St. Patty’s baby. I ended up being induced and delivered on the 10th though.

And Dominic was due on the 27th, my brother’s birthday, but I was also

induced (preeclampsia). Good thing though, because he was 9lbs, 5oz.

Another 10 days and he would have topped 10 for sure (at least with the way

I was eating!)
