Help! We are at day 4 with Elecare and Elias is not improving. He is fussy and crying after his bottle until his next nap. I have to carry him during this time and he is almost 18 lbs. Its going to wear me out! He is writhing during his bottle and crying during many. He has started to drool again like crazy. Could his increased reflux pain be due to an intolerance or allergy?? He is already on a high dose of Prilosec. Does he need another type of PPI????

Well, I will tell you that both of my boys got worse on Neocate before getting better, so you need to stick it out the full two weeks before changing anything else. I felt EXACTLY like you except I called the on call doctor on day 3 in tears telling them it was worse not better with Dylan! THey told me to stick it out and after about a week or so (it can take longer the older the baby is) things slowly got better and within two weeks I had a baby who was out of pain and then started sleeping through the night. I can only think to describe it as all the bad things working their way out of his system and he was miserable, but once that happened, we had a new baby, so please give it a bit more time and hang in there!!! also if you change the meds now, then you won’ t know if something is better or worse with too many changes, so just keep going on the same course for a bit longer. That is what I would do if it were me……

Also, could he be teething?

teething can make them monsters! my dd is the happiest baby.. but she has been teething ( a lot of drooling).. and is hardly napping.. not drinking bottles well..and has no clue what she wants..

maybe teething?

if not maybe try the prevacid solutabs? works wonders for many
