When I bathe Seth, I fill up the tub with bubbles and then scrub him down with a wash cloth. After I am done, I then drain the water and fill it up with clean water to rinse him with. I am just wondering if the rinsing part is necessary? I guess I have always done this so there won’t be any soap left on him to irritate his sensitive skin but last night after I drained the tub and we were waiting for it to fill up again, he was so cold he was chattering and trying to get out! I felt so bad! What do you all do?

But I don’t fill the tub up with bubbles either… just put some soap and on the cloth and lather it up, and then rinse it off with the bathwater. There are usually a bit of soap bubbles still left on her, but not too many, and then I just wipe them off.

We don’t do the rinsing part – we fill the tub with bubbles and use a cloth to scrub him with, and then we use the faucet to run clean water on another cloth and rinse him with that. I guess he ends up with a few bubbles still on him when he gets out but that has never bothered him before. Sometimes we don’t fill the tub with bubbles – we just fill it with clean water and put the soap on one cloth and scrub him with that, and then use the water from the tub to rinse him – then he has no bubbles on him when we take him out.
I don’t know if that’s the best way to do it, but so far he hasn’t had any rashes from it or anything so it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. The other night though, I told him it was time to get out of the bath and when I turned my back to get the towel, he stood up in the tub! Woah – wasn’t ready for that one!

Laura, that’s wild Owen stood up in the tub. I still have Seth sit in his infant tub that converts to a seat when I bathe him. We did have an inflatable tub that he loved but it has a hole in it now. I am going to try just sitting him in the tub soon though but need to get some sort of non skid mat first. He does love his baths- he will even go in the bathroom sometimes and try to get in the tub and I have to tell him “no, it’s not bath time!!”

I stand her up and just rinse her off with one cup full of plain water and that’s all. We’ve been having Hailey sit in the regular tub for a long time now. It’s so much easier. I think I started doing that when she was 9 months. We do have those non skid strips down in our tub so that helps with slipping.

The non-skid mat is really important. We forgot it when we traveled last spring and her bath was a nightmare! My poor baby kept sliding all over the tub.
We fill the tub with water first. As it’s filling, we wet her hair down and wash it. Then we wash her body. Before she gets out we just use a plastic cup and pour water from the faucet over her a few times to rinse off anything that we’ve missed. I’ve never put bubbles in the water because she’s always trying to drink the water and I worry about her drinking the soap.
