We were really struggling with Taylor and her feedings. We saw Peds Gi and he started her on Prilosec 3mg twice a day and Neocate. She did wonderful ate like crazy without anything problems for 3 days. Now as of last night and today so far we are back to taking 1 oz then crying and pushing her legs and refusing anymore, she’s spiting with burps but not crying. I just hope we are going through a bad day since if this doesn’t work I just don’t know what else they can do for her. I’m keeping my fingers crossed since she was doing so well.
We had a similar problem with Neocate – it worked well for some time
but then Marisa started refusing and pushing and grunting. Could Taylor
be constipated? Neocate can be constipating and that could be causing a
problem for her?
We had to use lactulose with the neocate at first because it is constipating. Also, it was alot thinner than the other formulas so we use simply thick and beechnut oatmeal to weigh it down. 6 mgs of ppi for the whole day??? I would check and see what her proper dose should be. Also, it takes a while for the ppi to kick in. So it may not be the formula, but the acid bugger her with all the pulling away from the bottle. Can you try to use zantac with it for a while or mylanta before bottles? Hope something works soon! I used to feel so helpless, I tried everything in the book!
When my son was switched from the soltabs to the packets his reflux went NUTS, he was coughing, congested and so hoarse he could not even cry, not sure why it happened, I mean it’s the same medicine right? but as soon as he was put back on the soltabs(about a month later), he was fine within a week. (just a thought and my expierence)
