Mercy! I am at my wit’s end.

I need to get Prevacid capsules inside my 3month old dd. she cannot take Prilosec, she cannot take the liquid compounds, she cannot take applesauce, she cannot take solutabs.

I’ve been opening capsules and swiping the beads inside her mouth on an empty stomach but it doesn’t seem to be working. I have no idea what to do. I can’t give her any foods, pedialyte, etc as it will cause an allergic reaction. Should it be working this way? I thought the beads were in enteric coating too. The solutabs work really well but cause an allergic reaction. Please help. I can’t take much more.

dye-free pediatlyte?

you need something acidic to activate the meds, thus the need for applesauce or pedialyte, etc…

you can try making your own ‘safe’ compound using zegerid and tums (there are some varieties of tums that are free of soy & milk protein)

I realize there are *other* ingredients that might affect your baby, though…

I think my best bet would be just a single ingredient, can I use a very tiny amount? Like could I put a couple drops lemon juice in water? Do I need to actually crush or dissolve the beads at all or can they go in intact along with the acidic ingredient?

you do not crush the beads –

try pears? when breastfeeding mothers are on a strict FPIES-like diet to make their milk acceptable for their babies, they may eat pears…

I don’t think lemon juice would be good for an infant?

Thanks for the support. I did try one drop of lemon juice and 6 drops of water. So far so good. I know she reacts to apples and pears through breastmilk so I’m not ready to give them directly. Someone on fb also suggested vinegar!
