hello!

my 2month old baby was diagnosed with acid reflux 3 weeks ago after showing symptoms of back arching, stiffening body, gagging, painful spit up and excessive crying for days. He has been on ranitidine (0.7ml x 2 times a day) and motilium (1ml x 3 times a day) since 3 weeks ago when he was weighing abt 4.7kg. 3 days ago, I upped his ranitidine dosage to 0.9ml x 2 times a day after he showed signs of returning attacks for a few days. I dont have a scale at home but he’s definitely weighing alot more now, abt 5kg (or more).

my worry is he suddenly started projectile vomitting, bouts n bouts. twice 2 days ago and twice yesterday. Could it be a sign of ranitidine overdose? i reduced the dosage back to 0.7ml x 2, but he’s starting to show signs of reflux again.

Help appreciated! His follow up with paed is 3 weeks later!

I rather doubt the vomiting is from the rantidine. However, I would get baby checked for pyloric stenosis – this can cause projectile vomiting.

Zantac dosing- my/other’s question (has axid & pepcid doses, too)

I agree with Laura that I doubt your child got worse with the upped dose of Prevacid.

I have created a blog telling all about what we went though with our children’s reflux and food intolerances and what we found to help.
